holy moly this has been in the works for a while a NEW DEMO for SongRunner is out now! there is an inconceivable number of improvements and changes to the game since the last demo in February, including fully rebindable inputs (with MIDI support!!) #Godot #solodev #indiedev #gaming #soundtracks

i would love to do some short dev logs for SongRunner to break down how the game works but it's so hard to find time to make them anyway here's a look at a new song for the game. i've been comin off of a BAD case of writer's block but getting moving again. #indiedev #solodev #godot #indiegames

this is why i openly state an "AI-free disclaimer" on the SongRunner steam page. absolutely zero AI is used. honestly, as im developing the game, i'm realizing it is, as a whole, a symbolic giant middle finger to all generative AI. support human-made things.

thank you Nina for this article! a lot of really great points in here. regarding the player's creativity in SongRunner, i absolutely agree that it's incredibly difficult to foster true creativity AND have a tightly designed game at the same time. (1/6)

On @somanygames.co.uk, find out how @mattgoode.bsky.social's Song Runner contends with the cursed problem (in @blinkity.bsky.social's sense) of gamified creativity. There's also a shout out to @greg.style's GDC talk about Chicory: A Colorful Tale. somanygames.co.uk/articles/son...

The best moments in the game for me have been when I accidentally create a loop that sounds genuinely neat. It's not going to happen every screen, but if there's at least a handful of moments where you stop and admire your little bop before moving on to the next screen, that's a win for me. (3/6)

That accidental creativity is the true message of the game. It's in all of us. If you're interacting with tools that are easy to use and accessible, anyone should be able to experience those little creative moments. It saddens me when someone says they aren't a creative person. (4/6)

I want SongRunner to be a tight, simple platformer. I really don't want the basic movement to be any more complicated than necessary - it should be immediately understandable. the meat of the depth in SongRunner is grappling with the 8 (!) extra buttons of adding musical notes. (2/6)

been playing and enjoying the heck out of moonlighter 2 and reading some of the top steam reviews i feel like im losing my mind. this is a fantastic game with some really interesting decisions and systems. i forgot how fun it was in moonlighter 1 to squeeze every coin possible out of a dungeon run.

just coming back to this to say oh my god how do people actually make this work?! i imagine outlets and creators get inconceivable amounts of spam but reaching out to people has been similar vibes to applying to dozens of jobs without a single response.

reaching out to small creators/outlets and asking them to check out my demo please release my soul from this personal hell #indiedev #solodev #godot

hello bluesky, i am a solo developer making SongRunner, a pretty neat 2d platformer where you play music to make platforms. here's a (somewhat older) clip of one of my favorite simple screens from the game. also the soundtrack is very big and very cool #godot #solodev #gaming #indiedev

been dealing with a lot of internal struggles with SongRunner. working on a sort of "act 1 finale" type of thing. i knew this was going to be a hard one because im putting a lot of pressure on myself to make it very memorable and unique. my feelings toward the game are changing over time. not

necessarily in a good or bad way, but like, im just slowly figuring out what the message is. i think something that's incredibly difficult for any game is being able to accompany that messaging with gameplay that is fun and uniquely intertwining with the message. anyway damn i love Celeste so much.
