Glad to be here. I feel we are somewhat replacing an evil billionaire with a bunch of venture capitalists so my main home remains the decentralized and federated Mastodon matthewguy.com/masto. Find all my socials at matthewguy.com I crosspost from Masto so apologies for post splits or delays.

My lunchtime walk was looking very autumnal today. Nice to see the sunshine. #TruroNS #NovaScotia

Last night's big moon (taken with iPhone) in #TruroNS

Spotted on our dog walk, basking in the sun. A little sniff by our lab sent it to safety off the road.

I guess calling a snap election in BC was not the best political decision. #CdnPoli #canpol https://www.cbc.ca/news/canada/british-columbia/livestory/bc-provincial-election-results-live-updates-2026-9.7389208

Blue sky and fall colours this morning on our dog walk.

Burntcoat Head today with a wonderful group of students - was a little windy and cold but thoroughly enjoyed the trip.

He said he was not “proposing a third bloc” to challenge “great power rivals, only with better manners,” but an alliance of resilient nations “principled enough that our strength reinforces international law rather than seeks to replace it”

Beautiful day for a walk near #TruroNS

Lunchtime walk after heavy rain last night #TruroNS

Arranging a murder? #crows

I really want to put a sign underneath that says “F**k Cancer”

Cape Breton certainly took a battering from the rain this weekend. In #TruroNS it was very wet but luckily gaps in the rain to allow for some soaking away. https://www.cbc.ca/news/canada/nova-scotia/cape-breton-rainfall-sunday-9.7334170?cmp=rss #NovaScotia #CapeBreton #xp

Fungus on our walk yesterday morning before work. By the time I came home it was in full umbrella mode! #fungus #fungi #NovaScotia #xp

Lovely article about the sort of multicultural Britain I love. https://www.theguardian.com/commentisfree/2026/aug/23/peak-district-countryside-england-rightwing-vision #xp #UK #multiculturalism

20 years ago this week, we visited #NovaScotia to look at properties. We had already sold our house in England and just waiting for the sale to complete. In one way that 20 years has gone so fast. In another way, living in England seems a long time ago. #xp #NS #immigration

Finished watching #HalfMan last night. That entire series was a tense rollercoaster. It is difficult not to clench your jaw and watch each minute thinking "what next?". Excellent acting and superb storytelling. #TV #RichardGadd #xp https://www.bbc.com/culture/article/20260422-half-man-review

Beautiful day for our second hike of 2026 in #VictoriaPark #TruroNS #NovaScotia

The weather has been slowly improving and the showers greening things up. It has meant opportunities for a nice lunch time walk which has been much needed this week while we have been dealing with layoffs and position eliminations 🙁 #xp #NovaScotia

"Spanish Prime Minister Pedro Sánchez condemned the shooting incident at the White House Correspondents' dinner, emphasizing that political violence is never the answer. He called for a commitment to democracy and peace in the wake of the attack." #xp #USPol #Spain

This deer was ludicrously close to me and interested rather than afraid - not good. #wildlife #xp

An hour before there was a downpour and we worried no-one would come. But they did and it was dry the whole 90 minutes of the #hike Met some lovely new people too. #2SLGBTQIA #xp

One minute you are wondering if you need to buy an extra couple of tins of tomatoes and the next you are downloading an offline version of wikipedia and wilderness first aid manuals. #NotAPrepper #EndTimes #War #xp

Congratulations to @avilewis.ca on his decisive victory to become the new leader of the NDP! A huge heartfelt thanks to @donvdavies.bsky.social for helping the party navigate these last months.

#NDP elect a new leader and the party wastes no time in trying to tear itself apart. #Nenshi statement within seconds of the win bodes poorly for party unity. #Progressives really know how to fight each other. #cdnpoli #MoreInCommon #xp

Congratulations to Avi Lewis on your election as NDP leader. As Prime Minister I will always take a collaborative approach to how we build a stronger Canada, and I look forward to speaking about how we can work together to keep delivering for Canadians.

I do like a good leadership ballot results announcement. Anyone know what time the #NDP are doing the reveal today? #CdnPoli #xp

I just clicked on a video on a #CBC news article I thought may be interesting. After a raucous ad starting and being told it was 1 of 3, I immediately closed the video, followed by the page. #enshittification #news #xp
