We packed our bags to visit our colleagues at @bhmpi.bsky.social​! Together, we’re building the Hertziana Discovery Bot, an AI-powered research assistant that makes it easier to search and explore digitized art historical sources. All roads lead to Rome & this one leads to smarter research 🛣️

Some of our MaxIT colleagues recently attended the IT4Science-Days 2026 in Göttingen - a great opportunity to exchange ideas, connect across the MPG, and explore how IT can best support research. They also paid a refreshing visit to the Botanical Gardens of the @uni-goettingen.de​ 🌱🪴😊

The Open Access community gathered this week in Linz. Under the motto “Wandel mit Verantwortung gestalten" (Shaping Change with Responsibility), there were talks, workshops, poster sessions, and more. Of course, we at Max Planck Digital Library (a division of #MaxIT) enjoyed to be there 😉

Minereva visited Northern Ireland's Giant's Causeway, where 1000s of basalt columns form nearly perfect hexagons. Researchers at MPG found the cause: materials shrink, crack, heal, and crack again. Over repeated cycles, the pattern shifts from right angles to 120-degree angles and hexagonal shapes.
