Bill Cassidy could have shifted left after his January 6 vote and become a classic Louisiana centrist type Senator Instead he stayed right, tried to grovel for forgiveness from Trump, and obliterated any chance he had of winning crossover Dem votes by voting to confirm RFK Jr Not good at politics!

JBE was the governor at the time, Cassidy could have switched parties or gone independent and try to vote for things that helped Louisiana Instead he ran a re-election campaign saying that Julia Letlow was "liberal" that never had a chance Cassidy is a uniquely terrible politician, retire bitch!

The claim that there is no racial segregation in BATON ROUGE LOUISIANA is astounding

The Athletic@theathletic.com

New LSU coach Lane Kiffin apologized if he offended his former school, Ole Miss, with his recent comments about the school’s and state's racial history. He compared Mississippi to his new home, Baton Rouge, Louisiana, where he feels like there is “no segregation.” www.nytimes.com/athletic/727...

Today is the day that Kevon Looney officially became a New Orleans Pelican.

Shamit Dua@fearthebrown.bsky.social

The New Orleans Pelicans today announced that Kevon Looney has been diagnosed with a proximal tibiofibular ligament sprain in his left knee. He will be out 2-3 weeks

I sat behind John Goodman while he was watching The Curious Case of Benjamin Button alone in a movie theater. He ate the jumbo popcorn and an entire refill during the movie.

Steve Scalise, Mike Johnson, John Kennedy, Bill Cassidy, and the rest of the do-nothing Louisiana House and Senate delegations are going to sit idly by and let Donald Trump and Elon Musk destroy FEMA, which their state has relied on heavily and often for the past 20 years to simply keep existing

Andrew D Thaler@drandrewthaler.bsky.social

What?! "Staff of the Federal Emergency Management Agency were left baffled on Monday after the head of the U.S. disaster agency said during a briefing that he had not been aware the country has a hurricane season, according to four sources familiar with the situation."

if I were the minority Senate leader I would simply have sent an even stronger letter with a minimum of *nine* very strong questions

Aaron Rupar@atrupar.com

Schumer on the Democratic response to Trump's shakedown of Harvard: "We sent him a very strong letter just the other day asking eight very strong questions."

even though the author doesn't actually eat the sandwich, this may me day dream about the bottom olive oil-soaked half of a loaf of Central Grocery bread

i wrote about muffulettas, and why it's important to cling to joy in this rough time even when it is very hard!!!! buttondown.com/theswordandt...

The wildest thing about the government's handling of the Abrego Garcia case is that they have to know that the "due process" required by this Supreme Court would be extremely minimal, a rubber stamp. They could have brought him back already, gave him that minimal process, and sent him back out.

But rather than do that, they have given the entire federal judiciary the middle finger. Because they just can't be bothered to fill out the paperwork and can't imagine why they should have to.

The literal Attorney General of the United States of America, when given an opportunity to accomplish the same ends through the most mundane and simple legal procedures, instead acts like this random young man picked up for seeking work for the day in a Home Depot parking lot is Osama bin Laden.

It's great that a federal judge, via a concurring opinion which has nothing at all to do with the case before him, is using the Federal Reporter like it is a place to make posts

CA5 Judge Ho uses a concurrence in death penalty case - not related to Trump in any way I can see on the face- to sketch out his position on the district courts straining to control Trump’s unlawful actions. www.ca5.uscourts.gov/opinions/pub...

Incredible that a lawyer, Drew Ensign, has decided that the power and prestige that comes with arguing cases for the United States of America is worth filing pleadings that result in this type of scathing written opinion worthy of inclusion in a law school textbook. It's not worth it, Drew.

“It is difficult in some cases to get to the very heart of the matter. But in this case, it is not hard at all. The government is asserting a right to stash away residents of this country in foreign prisons without the semblance of due process..” storage.courtlistener.com/recap/gov.us...

The University of N.O. Limit Soldiers

Matt Norlander@norlander.bsky.social

Quite a day for the University of New Orleans. This morning it was reported the four of the team's top players have been suspended for a month b/c of suspected ties to sports betting. Then the school announced Master P is its new President of Basketball Operations. unoprivateers.com/news/2025/2/...

Bill Cassidy already has no political future in Louisiana because he voted to convict Lord Trump on at least one article of impeachment, and voting in favor of RFK loses him literally everyone else. Herman Munster looking ass bitch.

Miriam Adelson is such a big supporter of Donald Trump that she just had her basketball team trade Luka Doncic in one of the worst trades of all time just to change the news cycle

You are up to date.
