I've got a puzzle game I've had brewing for a while I'm going the distance with. King of Kingdoms! Is a chill go at your own pace puzzle game. It's got infinite leaderboards and a leaderboard of leaderboards. Here's the steam page. I'd appreciate a wishlist! store.steampowered.com/app/5092050/...

Is there a way to filter by 2 hashtags? I'm trying to find things that are both made in #godot and are in #steamnextfest. Also, if you end up here on either of those hashtags, please comment if you know some godot games that are in the 02/2025 nextfest!

Today I went to work on my puzzle game I've been working on. Thought to myself "I need to playtest a minute to see what was broken I needed to fix" Ended up "playtesting" for an hour and didn't run into anything. Main loop closed! An hour wasted though....

Getting more into bsky now. Really enjoying using the @flashes.blue app today. Looks like the beta is full or was taken down, but as a non-meta alternative to instagram that does a great job of filtering posts, it's got a lot of potential.

So, I'm currently building a slot machine builder autobattler: The main idea is you start with an empty slot machine, and then add items that give you shield or do damage. Each round you add more things, and then fight another slot machine on the same round.

Today I got asynchronous multiplayer working! You make a machine on round 1, it saves it and then in future playthrus, you'll fight another randomly selected machine that has been made in round 1. And it continues up thru higher rounds. With this working, I think I can call it "Playable"!

From here I just need to create more items to go into the machine and add more features for them. I also have some UI bugs and stuff that need to be fixed... Also, I gotta figure out how to do art??? We'll get there when we get there. Still so much to do! But i'm super pumped today!

I’ve kinda shifted from board games to maybe making video games, and mostly being crazy. Things I’ve learned in the last couple years: The board game industry is a lot harder than board games themselves. Video games require knowing a lot more than just having ideas. Religious trauma is a real thing

I've had some ideas for games the last couple weeks. It feels good to get those juices going again. However, they're not particularly good at first. The the wife doesn't like to rubber duck my early ideas (she has trouble seeing them) so I don't know if things have legs. Anyone up for listening?

Finally starting to feel back to normal around 10 days later. Working on a scrabble variation. How do you do starting balancing of things to get something playable? Or do you whip out a spreadsheet and do math or something? I just kinda go with gut feelings. Sometimes they're way off. 🎲 ✂️

Made a trip back home, and talked my non-gamer family into playing my trick taking card game I've been working on. They really liked it and helped me figure out what felt right with scoring. We played a game, and I said "Oh, this felt long, I should probably add this." and they said "Let's Try it!"

Been sick all weekend into today. It's apparently not covid. Although in trying to sleep I came up with an idea for a word game. Ordering scrabble tiles and printing tile holders for tomorrow. Hopefully I feel well enough to do something with it.

Had a dream last night. Was playtesting a party game with some people. The game was about taking a category, and coming up with answers and assigning points to the answers. Then people select one of the answers and get points accordingly. I think there was something about who selected which answer.

I think I've decided bluesky is where I'll speak honestly about things. I'll probably back off that when I lose focus again and delete everything. I guess this is what bipolar looks like.

This year I've "gotten into" so many things. I've been off and on on board game design for years now. Decided I was going to go heavy this year. That lasted a few months. Been working on website ideas. For a bit. Been learning game design with Godot the last couple weeks. Can't choose. Can't focus.

Was trying to set up my profile. Was going to put something like "Board game Designer, software developer, something or other" but lately all I got is "bipolar". Unrelated, are there ways to make things private here? Or are we all still pretending like everything is okay like everywhere else.

You are up to date.
