Alvarez finally came alive at this World Cup, and it happened as Arsenal’s competition for him may be easing Aletico really don’t want to sell to Barca/Madrid PSG have cooled, as they don’t want to sell Barcola to Arsenal www.independent.co.uk/sport/footba...

Crossing strategy was basically hope and pray

Chris Vannini@chrisvannini.com

Mexico had basically no plan offensively, even with the advantage. Just keep crossing it into the box against a taller England defense and hope for a good bounce.

Bluesky is a sports app, but it's also where all the good repliers went. The ones in it for the love of the game, and not looking to make .000001 of a cent

Psst Palace to start kids vs Arsenal on final matchday. Also, 6th can get to Champs League. Brentford and Bournemouth with something massive to play for now vs City

Zohran Mamdani: "If you are a Mario Kart fan, government is Yoshi and philanthropy is the Golden Mushroom, that edge we need to beat Bowser on the Rainbow Road. To belabor this metaphor even further, Bowser is corporate greed in this scenario."

Below is very accurate. I had two thoughts during the movie - what the heck am I watching - this ending is INCREDIBLE

Mark Lazerus@marklazerus.bsky.social

BUGONIA: Man, I loved this. Basically a two-hander between maybe the best two actors alive (Emma Stone and Jesse Plemons). Funny but not a comedy, sad but not a tragedy, tense but not a thriller, dark but not heavy-handed, bizarre but not a farce. Really entertaining stuff.

I loved this film, way more than I expected. Hooked me in straight from the jump. Elordi and Isaac nailed it, and this was visually sensational. Watch it!

Mark Lazerus@marklazerus.bsky.social

FRANKENSTEIN: What a wacky series of misunderstandings! Big, loud, melodramatic and hilariously unsubtle. Entertaining, though. Three thoughts: 1. The old blind man is the greatest English professor ever. 2. Do not swim outside the Frankenstein estate. 3. This is basically an X-Men movie.

A raw, emotional film. Heavy-handed, indeed. Edgerton was a delight but seeing this once will do for a lifetime.

Mark Lazerus@marklazerus.bsky.social

TRAIN DREAMS: Visually beautiful. Moving at times, but very heavy-handed. If you need to have a narrator constantly flat-out saying what the main character is feeling, you're either not giving your audience enough credit, or you're not telling a complete story. This felt like both.

Spot on point re: pacing. It just punches you in the face, in a good way. Chalamet shines bright, thought he deserved best actor. Big recommendation for this one, see it!

Mark Lazerus@marklazerus.bsky.social

MARTY SUPREME: The pacing of this movie is incredible. Never drags, not for a second. Has an almost cracked-mirror Catch Me If You Can vibe. I haven't read up on the film yet, so the ending is either the funniest thing ever or (far more likely) a poignant, mostly earned grace note.

Mark is right here. I wouldn’t say it was bad but the movie just coasted in slow motion. Don’t regret seeing it but won’t ever seek it out. Arnett was a bright spot

Mark Lazerus@marklazerus.bsky.social

IS THIS THING ON?: I was excited for this, but it was … bewildering? Too messy yet not messy enough, too sad yet too tidily wrapped up. I also have so many pedantic questions about character ages and careers and the like, which is never a good sign. Very good Arnett performance in a not-good movie.

Saw this in theatre and really really enjoyed it. I don’t think the plot was anything extraordinary but it just clicked. I’ll give it a go at home and see if I feel the same

Mark Lazerus@marklazerus.bsky.social

CRIME 101: Despite Chris Hemsworth doing the worst American accent in the history of cinema, I quite enjoyed this. Just a slick, well-made, well-acted, grown-up crime flick. We used to get 10 of these a year. Now they're precious commodities.
