I just noticed a heinous, poor excuse for a human being pop out of the woodwork again. It's "Twizzle" from FA, who got banned from the site. He's going to block me when I post this, which is fine, I literally don't care. But I want to let others know to steer clear of @twizzle2056.bsky.social.

Been staring myself blind trying to find rear shock absorbers for this moped and trying to figure out what I can do to fix the rusty front suspensions... Then there's the getting zapped issue... when I bought this I didn't think I'd be neck deep in trying to restore it... beware shady sellers. 👀

I finished cleaning, de-rusting and painting the front rim and brake cover a few days ago. The new brakes arrived yesterday and managed to seat them in there today. I think it turned out pretty good. 👀 #Vintage #Mechanics #Mopeds

Update on the moped, I sat down and found a rear axle that fits, ordered new front and rear sprockets and a tool to remove and clean the flywheel. Also painted the rear mud guard, brake shield and muffler/exhaust with their first coat. Cleaned, prepped and scrubbed one side of the rear rim. :3

First coat of new paint on the front mudguard and lower black parts of the front shocks, as well as the metal part that locks the seat in place. Also put the cylinder and cylinder head with their new gaskets back together today, also added a new choke wire and handle.

I DON'T BELIEVE IT... The brake shield, to a Sachs, completely different brand of moped, fits my Garelli! 😱 Bought it on a wing and a prayer because I couldn't loosen the screws on the old brake shield to fix it up, and it fits! Finally something works out on this damn project. 🤣

No stream today, been completely lost in the sauce when it comes to my moped... tinkering, looking up replacement parts online, finding new issues that need fixing. Thusly, my brain is a bit fried right now. Might stream tomorrow, we'll see. Love y'all. 🫂💜

I was considering how much I've now spent on getting tools, parts and chemicals to restore the moped I bought... reached the point of "fuck it". A lot of these purchases are 1-time things, tools I need and parts that require replacing. I didn't know what purchasing a vintage vehicle might entail. 👀

Frankly, I was hoping that I would buy it for ~600 USD and then use it for a few years before I had to do any servicing. 🛵 I've spent ~800 USD (so far) on the stuff I've required to fix this thing, still cheaper than buying a new one for ~2200 USD but... I'm getting closer. 😅

Technically, I can ride this moped with a regular bicycle helmet but I'm really noise sensisitve and I might as well get a more robust helmet, so I did. Add another... 80 bucks, but again, don't really wanna skimp on getting a helmet. I prefer my melon non-squished. 🍈

There we go, finally managed to get myself outside to spray paint the upper front shocks with red rustproofing. And I also sprayed one side of the rubber protections, hopefully the correct side. 🤔 Even though I kept them outside for an hour my apartment still smells like spray paint. 🫪

Time has come to start work on the back, the brake shoes need to be changed for sure. Can't remove the back axle from the brake shield, prob have to replace those. Finding a shield will be hard. Ordered a new handlebar, new grips, new throttle. Don't think I'll be done before the snow comes. 😅

I booted up Guild Wars 2 for the first time in like 5 years, since some folks I know seem to be getting back into it. Gotta try to get back into it, which is daunting after so long away from an MMO. 😱 At least it turns out one of my mains was already dressed up for Halloween. 🎃

The new shocks for my old moped seem to fit, which is fantastic. ❤️ They're 1 cm taller than my old ones but I couldn't find 230 mm shocks anywhere. My fault for buying an Italian moped from 1990... 👀💦

Finally some mushrooms are starting to come out of their hiding places. Glad I took an extra trip on my bike to check, found two patches of horse mushrooms (Agaricus arvensis, images), a patch of shaggy ink caps (Coprinus comatus) and some field mushrooms (Agaricus campestris). ❤️ #FungiFriends
