Ananta. There is a link to their website. So, basically, voice actor jobs reqire to be familiar with AI tools. I bet they will train AI for some NPCs and stuff... There is also an AI designer job there... Plus it being netease. They've been flirting with AI by a lot bsky.app/profile/kafk...

Spooky Kafka 🎃@kafkagaming.bsky.social

For those who wants to know if Ananta uses AI and to which extent here is a website with job positions (use a translator!) But a quick click on some voice actor positions (English as well) reveals: "Be familiar with AI voice generation..."; "Can master various AI speech generation tools..."

Recently. The biggest example is identity v boycott since they've added many gen AI assets in the game despite people not wanting it... There are games that are under netease (smaller subsidiaries) Where winds meet has AI powered LLM NPCs; Once human uses AI for marketing...

Usually with those anime gacha free games whatever the best way to check is going to Chinese web. There are several cases of global marketing teams not saying the whole truth about AI (NTE). Some cases of AI are hard to know without reading Chinese articles. (HSR has been using gen AI to help

With the story since the beginning but we learnt about it much later cos it wasn't covered by global media). NTE has many cases of AI usage but most know only about their "slips" on launch. I usually go to their official websites since they post jobs there. Global sites rarely have it.

Nodus Falls and Like or Die being AI was like. The easiest read of my life. Genuinely I can’t believe someone actually wanted their game to look like that.

There was an industry analyst group, and they estimated minimum half the uploads on steam in the past few years uses AI in production without disclosure; undoubtedly every single AAA studio is at this point, just a matter of how well they hide it in the end product.

I think it'll become the norm even with indie devs; gonna get harder to spot as time goes on with most titles already not disclosing it's use, or straight up lying that none was used. But yeah, I'm already set for life with games and media if I never purchased anything ever again lol

The zoopunk one still hurts me the most because I loved FIST:Forged in Shadow Torch and got really excited that zoopunk was effectively a sequal, then I heard about the generative AI ship building mechanic they shoehorned into it and had a whirlwind of emotions

If you're going to make a furry game please for the love of dog get some furry artists onboard, they're creative, devoted and will produce furry looking characters instead of this asset bash crapshoot

Definitely have to agree with others' comments here. There is literally no mention of Nodus Falls in the linked article, which itself seems to suggest PLANS for AI implementation rather than saying "We made this game with AI."

The article you attached doesn’t even mention the nodus falls. Moreover, it speaks of AI which has been used in games for years (npc behavior, generating plain and repetitive but massive environments etc). I know that hating on hoyo is fun but please at least give real reasons.

I'd prefer to not defend Hoyoverse, but the article does not state Nodus is using genAi. I'm not even sure what they're going to do with Ai and what not. These press releases always keep things so effing nebulous. And Genshin uses in house artists + freelancers for their Character Designs and Videos

Zoopunk using A.I. is fucking tragic since it's the same devs that made F.I.S.T. Like... they have shown they can make an amazing game completely with human hands, why turn to the darkside?

As far as I've been able to tell they're making the game itself without any genAI, but it's going to come with genAI tools the player can use (or not use) to roll their own cosmetics.

Will become a great time for Indiedevs, that don't use Gen AI for their games. I guess, there are a lot of gamers out there, appreciating hand crafted assets and code a lot.

It's really sad how a lot of stuff that could've been cool and exciting if AI wasn't involved is being ruined because it has become so normalized to use it.

SE never used weird tech with their big titles, so far. NFTs/blockchain only had some weird experiments, and AI is so far only investors talk - as far as we can tell.

Heads up, the Ananta one was quoting a sponsor on the article's site, not the devs themselves. I will not be surprised if it turns out they do, but until then there's still no proof or statements, so you might want to put a disclaimer up

Wish I had a better alternative as a game dev. 🥲 I'm currently freelancing for indies to get myself through this rough patch. It's not financially sustainable, so probably gonna have to think about leaving the industry for a while. There are a lot of laid off devs like me in this position.

Say what you want about Nintendo. But Furukawa told investors if you want us to invest in AI, you can go ahead and sell your shares now.

Ew, Geoff jumpscare, thanks for the thread tho, its such a fucking shame to see, most of them looked pretty boring, but zoopunk and crazy taxi is a kick in the nuts, thankfully the like 3 games I liked are not AI slop

Some of these I knew about and the others just don't grab me enough to want to play them. So it's definitely good to let them hopefully die on arrival.

Because their use of AI is covert and intended to be invisible they are definitionally NOT slop which was term coined to categorize zero effort AI content that almost everyone recognizes instantly. It makes it sound like quality is bad which is not point at all here

Genuine question: How do you define AI? I ask this because AI doesn't actually exist. What's called AI is just a buzzword created by companies like OpenAI and are nothing more than more advanced iterations of two very old concepts that have existed since the 80s - LLMs and procedural generation. 1/?

Technology which ingests mass data to synthesize "new" data, especially when the technology uses probability to predict implicit relationships rather than using explicitly predefined relationships.

The reason this is important to acknowledge is that a lot of tools predating the AI craze existed beforehand, and were re-labeled as such. Photoshop's content aware tool for one, which was just an automated cloning tool. 2/?

If you look at all the tools NOW called AI or genAI, then trace these tools backwards, you'll find them being used in a LOT of games. Games that if made today would probably be forced to use steam's AI disclosure. Games like Elder Scrolls Daggerfall, or Rogue. So: do these count as AI to you too?

We don't usually apply this term to things predating 2020s. Even some forms of machine learning fall outside the scope of this problem. It is not entirely a "buzzword". The people pushing it only pretend to apply it to older technologies.

Should addendum to say I am anti-AI as well, *especially* against the companies pushing this bullshit AI bubble. I just think its important to be grounded, and not hate on everything just because a bit of AI was used. I need to know how and why it was used first.

i literally just refuse to buy video games anymore. i'm finding it's very, very easy to simply not spend $80. unfortunate that the wider population seems content to keep doing it though. we're paying exponentially more in exchange for less effort/skill.

Thanks for putting everything together. I suspect that Heroes 3 Remake also has AI assets: bsky.app/profile/ak1r...

Dogshit GenAI "Remake". The cutscenes also seem to be AI. Checked Steam page: no AI disclaimer... 🤬 I'm a huge fan of HoMM 3 since 1999, and this offended me for real. You'll be better of playing Heroes 3 complete from GOG or Heroes Olden Era. Not this lazy cashgrab slop.
