So. Obviously I'm new here. I might be silent for long stretches. Or rant about politics. Or books. Or movies. Well, wax lyrical in case of the latter two, I suppose. This will certainly follow no discernable pattern. Just like me.

*blinks* Due to a long day yesterday and a short night my body keeps overruling me at times. It's not the book that's making me doze off. Am on page 112 now and willing to guess that Mr Oswald is off the hook. 😉 Gotta say though, starting the book inside the head of a truly loathsome character....

*runs in agitated circles, scratching herself* As always I have been reading way too fast, and, alas, there is no more book left to read. I am not good at reviews, I fear, but I'd like to state that I thoroughly enjoyed it, though it's definitely not for the faint of heart. Also: Possum! *gibbers*

So, dear readers, let me tell you about last week's Friday. I was minding my own business, cussing the customers inside my head for putting a spray bottle of stain remover on the floor when they suddenly became a lot more cussworthy. I bent down and picked the bottle up by the cap, as one does. 1/3

When I had already lifted it quite a bit, bottle and cap parted ways, and the bottle hit the floor hard enough to throw an eruption of stain remover with 5% oxygen based bleach into my face (I was still bending down). Including into my eyes. Don't try that at home, kids. That stuff burned. 2/3

And after having rinsed my eyes for ages, they were extremely reddened and felt.... meh. Obviously I survived this unharmed, but WHO THE FUCK UNSCREWS STAIN REMOVER AND THEN PUTS IT DOWN ON THE FLOOR?! *breathes* Ahhh, just had to publicly rant a bit. 3/3

Just looking at him makes me tear up. And the sad mouth!

beloved intern/volunteer Fiona described zygopines as having "large pathetic eyes that look as if they should begin welling with tears" and she was right to do so

My neighbour knows the bestest life hacks. 🤪 Quite some time ago she said I should get a cream with bee venom for my aching muscles and joints. And yesterday she told me to put old batteries into the soil close to my tomatoes; that'd make them grow like crazy. I'd been meaning to google... 1/3

... the venom for ages. Today I did. Hm-hm, what I expected. The actual experts say it doesn't do anything useful. Oh, huh, wait, what's that? People with asthma should absolutely refrain from using it? I even more strongly expected what I found concerning the batteries. If you do that, yes,... 2/3

... your tomatoes will grow, but you'll also contaminate the soil, groundwater and your tomatoes. Well, d'uh, batteries are hazardous waste. If I didn't know how gullible my neighbour is, the only logical conclusion would be that she wants to kill me. 3/3

So. Went to fill up the car this morning. In front of the gas station, between the entrance and the car wash, was this dude. All in black, black hat, roguishly unkempt dark curley hair, beard. Kinda cute. While I was filling her up, he kept talking, coughing weirdly, waving his hands about. 1/3

He did not appear to be on the phone. Then he started glancing at me while stll talking. I figured he found offence with me still masking up. "Hey, did you say something?!" at me. "No." "You said something!" "No; I'm just filling up my car." 2/3

He replied something along the lines that he had seen it with his lips that I said something to him. Ohhhhkay? When I went inside, the guy at the till asked if everything was okay. I told him what had happened. "Yeah, I was about to send him on his way anyway." Which he then proceeded to do. 3/3

Does anyone recall the episode of Castle in which a cosmetic surgeon is found dead? For a minute there is a female suspect who has had an insane number of surgeries and looks.... terrifying. (Apparently the makeup people made the actress's lips out of wax.) 1/2

*sighs* Realized I forgot to list the carrots in the ALT text, checked and saw that I also misspelled baby spinach. Oh, what I'd give for an edit button at times.....

Pondering the quality of veggies in supermarkets in general while marveling at a broccoli that's still pristine although I bought it two days ago. Only last week I (politely) suggested at the register of another supermarket that the colleague might want to check the organic section because... 1/2

... the sweet peppers there were not doing well. She informed me - a bit snidely - that the colleague was due to check them that evening anyway. I did not say so because I am polite and shit, but when had he been due to do that before? One of the poor things had almost completely liquefied. 2/2

Standing in line at the register of a small Turkish supermarket yesterday. The woman in front of me is keeping up a bilingual conversation with her crabby toddler. (It is a long line and the guy at the register is.... erm.... not the fastest.) Boy says something. 1/2

So, after a long period of scheduling issues I finally visited a dear friend last weekend and brought home - among other things - a nasty cold and my Christmas present (see LONG period...), @sirbenfro.bsky.social's Broken Ghosts. Gotta say, I like the book a lot better than the other gift from her.
