Tēnā koutou katoa, Now that Bluesky has video, thought I'd do quick introduction in New Zealand Sign Language (NZSL) for fellow Deaf folk. My name is Jasmin, I'm Deaf, live here in Aotearoa NZ. I grew up mainstreamed, oral, NZSL is my second language. (Video description in alt & reply)

It is not GOOD ENOUGH to be vaguely on the side of Nice Stuff in a world where marginalized people are constantly under attack and we can see very clearly how that Nice Stuff gets twisted to justify literally any oppression or atrocity.

Don't ever settle for "well I think everyone should be treated fairly" if the question is: do you support trans rights. Will you defund the police. Will you protect migrants from racist attacks. Should workers be able to unionize. Do you oppose Israel's genocide in Gaza and what will you DO about it

aside from everything else, the 2 results today are a STARK reminder that there is pushback globally against the fascist far-right. While fascists have been emboldened by US hegemonic power & international media institutions at the behest of capital, the people are STILL winning

Both of these results today go to show just how antifascists can mobilise. Fascists have an entire apparatus to make their victory feel inevitable. It is not. To crush hope. But hope lives on whilst we keep it alive.

Aotearoa Te Waipounamu: Political parties, their candidates Independent candidates They have to EARN our vote We don't owe them a vote, they need to work for it. It's not our fault if we don't want to vote for certain candidate or a certain party. Got choice? Exercise your right to choose! VOTE

One thing I learnt from Ipurangi Aotearoa board elections is to NOT advocate for trying to copy the tactics right-wingers were/are using For central government elections WE HAVE CHOICE, let's exercise our right to choose who we vote for

the problem with patched gangs is they’re always so easy to identify. if you’re in the pākehā mafia you get euphemistically referred to with terms like “property developer”, “lawyer”, “businessman”, “investor”, etc. instead

Cis folk in Aotearoa Te Waipounamu: worth writing to/letting your local MP candidates know of your support for trans kids & trans people Let your MPs know of your support for the Courts decision that it was unlawful of our govt to ban new prescriptions of puberty blockers We need to because...

...If this fuckery of current govt puts in an appeal, its going to be up to the new govt to deal with it & THE NEW GOVT THAT WE WILL VOTE IN should uphold the Court's decision AND UPHOLD TRANS PEOPLES RIGHTS Please: ENROL (by 25th October) & VOTE!

👋 Handwaves to all who put mahi into PATHA's case at High Court 👋 Can't imagine the weight is gone entirely, I do hope it is lifted for a bit ✊✊✊✊✊✊✊✊

For those socially conditioned to be people pleasers it’s powerful to sit with the discomfort of thinking that what you’ve done or said might have not been liked by everyone receiving it but you’ll do nothing to ‘fix it’. Just sit with it. The discomfort will pass but the authenticity will stay.

yesterday was my top at 40kWh I think (flicking through the graphs) today is getting close yesterday there was still a wee bit of solar being generated at 7:50pm so I'll report back at 8pm! (yesterday & today, 80% of it got exported to the grid)

Reposting AND quote posting because it can't be said enough: we must rebuke the narrative of "frontline" workers (who are So Important and Worthy unless they're on strike over shitty pay) and "back office" workers who contribute nothing and are acceptable casualties of public service cuts

This was my major takeaway from Dirty Work. Many political journalists dismissed the book as a nothingburger in contrast to Dirty Politics because of the lack of overt illegality, but I’d politely suggest they’re missing the point. Seeing what is described in here as normality is actually worse.

Israel uses any f*cking excuse to cut the means of supporting life from entering Gaza. 🤬 Winter is arriving so Israel's got to make Gazans more sickly. Banning entry of winter clothes, fruit and vegetables, and basic shelter building materials like tarps, etc, is about increasing winter death rates.
