Toronto's Kawhi Leonard is expected to miss a period of weeks due to swelling in his left knee, sources tell ESPN. MRI on Leonard's knee showed no structural damage, but sides will use the shorter term to ramp him back up after the stoppages during the offseason.

Happy we kept a progressive mayor in TO. 4 years of double Brad after leaving Kingston where last night they relieved the Conservative mayor of his duties woulda been hard to swallow. Also interesting how Chow team managed to find new momentum at the end. Last time they faded hard and lost E Day.

Feeling bad for my friends in the arts in BC this morning. That government is going to mean less for everyone and as we can see from a Conservative Govt in Ontario, it will make it harder for people there to make or experience art. It's all about maximizing corporate profits now.

A big mistake progressives seem to be making when they get elected is to become extremely milquetoast and stop making an argument around what they're doing that speaks to the goals and values of social democracy. Zohran is offering more than a font and coms strategy.

1 game sample - the D Fence is *exactly who we thought they were*. Diff combos of the Scottie/CMB/Kawhi/Shead trap at half court is going to be a nightmare and every time it will lead to a dunk. #Raptors

My honest take on the TO Mayoral Race is that Olivia Chow is pretty good at governing and pretty bad at campaigning. We're voting for someone to be good at running the city and she is pretty good at that.

We've come so far from Lebronto and F Brooklyn. Kawhi came back on his own. Raps were only team he would extend with. Feels like the first good Raptors team not built on insecurity and a David and Goliath narrative. They're going to be good and everyone knows it's 3 years of Scottie and Kawhi.

I see the 2 most-likely-to-win candidates in Beaches East York are supporting Ranked Ballots for TO Municipal elections. Layton too, who will win his ward. Seems like maybe there will be some new momentum for this with the new City Council.

I see the first thing Factory is offering with Kevin and Sascha in charge is free co-working for artists in the lobby. 1 Look some things can hapen in weeks not years. 2 An acknowledgement that being an artist also means being a producer. 3 Third Space gets a lot of talk not much action so good 2c.

Maybe there's one more brother? He cut his teeth at Deco before a year-long gap on the resume and a transition to working as a consultant to developers working on brand and business development. Brad Ford. He still like to hang at Kelsey's even tho his friends are banned.

Sweet. A great choice. Bring Back World Stage Gideon!

Oh, this is exciting news! Harbourfront has been a cultural wasteland in the past few years. Glad they've hired Gideon Arthurs — exiting executive director at Soulpepper, formerly of Fringe and Tarragon — to right the ship as CEO. Story in @thestar.com www.thestar.com/news/gta/sou...

The people on charge of AI are so obviously myopic, smart in one specific way that allowed them to maximize shareholder value, while also having extremely limited broad intelligence, that they are clearly not acting in the public interest. Maybe AI is cool? Hard to know with this crew in charge.

The reason I'm excited about Kawhi has nothing to do with nostalgia and everything to do with watching the first half of West Coast games last year after kids go to bed. He's stll very, very good. Different now, less athletic, but a better shooter (and Steph level FTs). Mama here comes that cyborg.

While we're at it - stop talking about trading RJ. Chip #2 he's part of this. "I got you Scott" as Scotte dribbled it up at end of Game 6. Always downhill, always aggressive. One of us. One of us.

Being right about Apple scrapping its launch of airpods with cameras in them has me ready to make a new prediction: 3 times this week i have heard the assertion "agentic AI will be a trillion dollar consumer industry by 2030". Absolute nonsense. The tech is incredibly unpopular with consumers.

I'm so old I remember when Chris Alexander was a thoughtful and well-respected diplomat. Now he's the guy who promoted a racist government snitch line as Minister and ran for mayor on *checks notes* raising TTC fares.

Cool news but also keep it on the DL until after the Alberta referendum. Thx so much.

This is a very theatre professor thing to tweet, but looking back at what David Mamet had to offer theatre, Practical Aesthetics completely overshadows every text but one, and even that one is not aging well.

Just here to make this prediction: The new AirPods with cameras in them will be cancelled before they become comerically available. Meta didn't do enough to avoid the 'glasshole' problem with their glasses and secret cameras are not kewl. Apple doesn't need how toxic this is for brands right now.

I don't love how this is shaking out for Canada. Dems want the midterms to be about Canada because it is a clear cost-of-living argument in Red states they need to flip. Trumpists want the same because they like the macho we can kick the cat around vibes after Iran the fiasco. Stakes is high.

While it is not becoming to celebrate the misfortune of others... Before Raps won it all in 2019 the Clippers were really pushing the envelope sending execs to EVERY GAME he played trying to illegally recruit him as a Raptor. Unsurprising they went along with Uncle Dennis. Anyhow, 10 1st Rd Picks!

This is succinct, and sums up why as a Canadian i'm consuming news hourly all of a sudden. Did i even watch the TV news once when we negotiated CUSMA? No. Did I watch it the last 4 days? Yes. Tariffs are a cypher for will we become a client state of a country run be the actual worst people.

Americans hear "51st state" as Trump trolling. Canadians hear it as an existential threat to their sovereignty. That gap in perception is why Carney can't afford to look conciliatory, even if the economics of retaliation don't add up. This isn't just a trade war anymore.

Jamil Jivani is opening up an interesting discussion about what constitutes treason in Canada. We have the VP of an adversary country promoting his interference in negotiations our PM has characterized as an "attack" and he is a sitting Opposition MP saying this: nationalpost.com/news/canada/...

nationalpost.comJivani calls Carney's dollar-for-dollar tariff response an 'overreaction' that will 'accelerate conflict'Conservative MP Jamil Jivani says that Prime Mark Carney is erring in trying to "accelerate conflict" with the U.S., following the collapse

Carney told reporters 3 major changes the US position late were: 1 Still big tariffs on trucks. 2 Limit other trade deals. 3 Reduced protections for culture and identity. I can't imagine any scenario Mark Carney agrees to number 2, and so that leads me to wonder if it was a deliberate poison pill.

Because we're only a few hours from understanding the US Canada trade deal, my personal opinion on what is important is that the auto industry is doomedeither way and fossil fuels will ruin the planet, while digital sovereignty will continue to grow in importance over time.

Honestly, this guy is such a jerk, so willing to leverage and boost our worst impulses to gain power, that I would like the hazing ritual to last 2 years minimum. The political culture would benefit if he leaves a broken politician. A cautionary tale. www.theglobeandmail.com/opinion/arti...
