The covers in question: A Century of Hitchcock by Tony Lee Moral and Self Rising by Mindy Merrell, R.B. Quinn, and Linda Carman. Thanks to AD Laura Hohman!

The word 'daemonlogy' came up in conversation with my son today and I'm reminded of one of the book covers that really inspired me to do this professionally: Paul Sahre's design for Rick Moody's Demonology...

...The Smarties (US) / Rockets (CAN) candies on this cover worked for me as a visual representation that this was a collection of several stories, something that stuck with me and that I've attempted to do when designing covers for short story collections...

May the 4th be with you! Back in 1997, as a fledgling designer I was thrilled to redesign Star Wars Insider magazine (complete with recreating the 'Star Wars' logo in Macromedia Freehand). Creating a collage around the Lucasfilm provided Special Edition medallion felt like peak Photoshop!

The radio was playing at my 85 yo Dad’s place earlier and his ears perked up and he said “I love this song!” He didn’t know the name or the artist. I pulled out Shazam since I didn’t recognize it either. Pink Pony Club by Chappell Roan.

Excited to share that ‘The Patchwork Cloak of Kamal Bey: An East-West Memoir’, a work of narrative nonfiction set in the Middle East, will be released this September. Cover art by @michelvrana.com. Many thanks to Canada Council for the Arts + Ontario Arts Council for their support. bit.ly/4o84UdH

As I downsize for the next chapter of my life, my apartment is approaching an almost nostalgic level of minimalism. Mattress on the floor and folding card table for meals. Part time digital nomad life is in my sights.

Ah, Facebook marketplace, where you can have interactions where someone messages at 12:30pm to say they’ll know soon if they can make it before noon that same day but that it looks good.

File under: I never thought it would be an issue until I tried. Adobe Illustrator has no trouble exporting a PDF with layers intact, but importing the same PDF reduces everything to one layer. Affinity Publisher roundtrips the file just fine.

Would love to know what’s happening in Lightroom on iPad: importing compressed Fuji raw files from a SD card reader and there are no previews, but those same files from the directly connected camera show previews. Is the camera doing something here?

Love this cover! And kudos to @johnchu.bsky.social for crediting the illustrator and designer!

My novel, The Subtle Art of Folding Space, has a cover! Read about repairing physics, unreasonable parental expectations, and great Taiwanese food! Out on April 7, 2026. Pre-order now: t.co/0nz8JuNhwf Art credits: Jacket art by Weston Wei, Jacket Design by Katie Klimowicz.

I don't doom scroll, but I follow so many interesting accounts on social media that time can slip away quickly while browsing... there's so much good stuff, but probably too much to process during any given session. Not sure what the solution is!

Sad to hear about the passing of Jackson “Butch” Guice. One of my favourite comic book artists when I was a kiddo. Between him and Michael Golden, I’ll always have fond memories of The Micronauts. (I didn’t connect with Gil Kane at the time!)

Thanks C.J. Looking forward to having a move leisurely read of the book once it’s printed!

We have COVER ART!! So thrilled with this beautiful work by @michelvrana.com. THE DROWNED MAN'S DAUGHTER: a heartwarming tale with almost no cannibalism, coming from @newestpress.bsky.social in Sept. 2025. #booksky

I honestly was blown away by Sinners. I’m glad I went in without seeing any trailers and experienced everything for the first time on the big screen. What an accomplishment for everyone involved!

Your occasional gentle reminder that this place is not the other place. 💪🙂 Giving a post a Like on Bluesky won't boost its visibility (ie there's no Twitter-style algorithm here). If your intention is to draw wider attention to a post, you need to repost (and/or tag).

I rarely eat fast food and am surprised every time at just how expensive it’s become. Helped my son move out of university residence yesterday and we stopped at Wendy’s. A sandwich fries and drink combo each ended up being $33 with tax!

transgender people exist, and have as much right to exist as anyone else. any laws attempting to restrict such or pretend otherwise can only cause harm. there has already been too much harm.

Trade deficit. I have bought food from say, Chilis. They have never bought food from me. There is a trade deficit with Chilis. I’m still doing fine. The trade deficit argument SOUNDS compelling, but it’s a straw man with no relevancy
