After catching up on the NVIDIA 5090 news, playing a video game in Nothern California, it would cost you 30-50 cents an hour purely just from a power perspective. πŸ™ƒ

The fact that this default feed on BlueSky can just be done... and I don't come back for it like some thirsty animal looking for more stuff thrown at me, is so refreshing.

Oh hello. I'm excited to share a brand new episode out here: This week's episode features @sanarao.bsky.social; design leader turned artist. We talk about her whole path from art, to design, to tech, back to artβ€”and it's a good one. Whew. fullstackwhatever.com/episode/sana...

Apple is making a great case for using Google Photos again, with this iOS 18 Photos app. Everything feels backwards, I don't know where I am half the time, and I feel like many photos are missing. 😬

Converted an old iMac 27" to a display for a friend. Used the R1811 board, and kept the power supply outside as to not deal with internal heat issues. It's not perfect, but all the ports are accessible and it is a very affordable 5K display that looks great from the front.

Bonus mention: because thing is DisplayPort 1.4 and takes double HDMI input you can use it for a PC as well. Which makes this a pretty fantastic affordable option to even use for gaming. (Sure it's 60hz, but still.)

I just asked Siri on CarPlay to send a song to a friend and it actually iMessaged a link to a song. I think this is my first time getting excited about Apple Intelligence. πŸ€“

This is the type of "take this thing and move it somewhere else" or "take this thing and do something with it" that just about any AI sucks at and gets me really excited about the future.

SF has been a vibrant set of towns around a black hole of despair and it's nothing but the city management and faux "progressive" purists fault that it is this way. There are tons of examples to resolve this and the city is in a theoretical, perfectionist deadlock instead of biasing toward action.

After living in Europe for 16 months, one thing is for sure: SF's reputation is in the gutter. Europeans are confounded by my pride for SF, they feel pity for me. And it's not because they've only been persuaded by media. Those with the strongest opinions have visited and seen for themselves...

You are up to date.
