During the brazilian elections we learned one obvious but important tactic to defeat the far right on the Internet and I think everyone should know it: IGNORE THEM! DON'T ENGAGE WITH THEIR CONTENT! DON'T MAKE CONTENT REACTING TO THEM! DON'T HATE QRT! LET THEM ALONE IN THEIR BUBBLE!

Lula: "We had to overcome foreign interference through digital platforms, which we will have to regulate. A crime in the digital world must be treated the same as a crime in the real world. We cannot have monstrous companies earning millions... not paying taxes... wanting to steer elections."

my Portuguese isn't great but I think I can work this out

Brazilians got to vote against the Bolsonaros, the Trumps, and Meta Platforms, Inc. all at once.

In his acceptance speech, Lula says he will work to regulate digital platforms in Brazil. “Digital crimes must be dealt with like real-life crimes.” This comes after Meta directly interfered with the Brazilian elections, favouring Flávio Bolsonaro.

Serbia's student movement ousts nationalist leader Aleksandar Vucic in parliamentary elections

idk how to explain how important this Lula win is but just know the entire balance of world power could have shifted in a terrible direction tonight and instead the people and democracy won despite overwhelming odds 🎉🎉🎉

Brasil ♥️ México bsky.app/profile/ju-s...

None of us should forget this. Meta should be subjected to corporate death penalty and permanently broken up into small pieces.

boy it sure seems like the main threat to democracy everywhere across the globe is right wing media and certain social media companies

Mark Lainez set up a repo tracking all the odd devices people have put Nerves on in the past and recently. This is a delightful thing to read through. There are some real bangers in there. github.com/mlainez/awes... #elixirlang #nerves

Bolsonaro had corrupt media on his side, Meta interference on his side, US propaganda operations, and his party's officials actively sabotaging public transport in Lula strongholds to prevent turnout. Yet he was still beaten by the power of voter turnout.

It's really important to pay attention to the fact that Lula beat the fascist candidate not by compromising and trying to meet fascist voters in the middle, but by sticking to his guns, promising prosecutions for election interference, and mobilising his own voters to turn out in greater numbers.

Congrats to Lula on overcoming Mark Zuckerberg and Donald Trump to defeat Hospital Pervert Jr., even as his opposition literally blocked off roads and turned off bus service during election day. Fascists are scary but they are always, 100% of the time, ultimately gigantic fucking losers.

Lula won!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Lula winning is great for the planet, great for Brazil, and great for people who aren't revanchist assholes everywhere in the world, but let's not forget that it's also going to make some of the worst people on Earth extremely sad and mad. We should enjoy that, as a little treat.

Lula has been reelected president, Brazilian media has now called. An extraordinary comeback for the left-wing politician who trailed by 2 points in round 1 but managed to hold off Flávio Bolsonaro, the former president's son.

FUCK your thermostatic public opinion, FUCK every shitlib who wrote us off, FUCK the state department, and especially FUCK every American social media company you can all SUCK MY DICK
