If you have to ask AI for cool things about your kids, for qualities in them worth shouting about, or at the very least three bullet points for a teacher to describe them with in assembly or simply in class sometime, you're a massive shit of a parent and I hope your kid/s work that out before long.

This happened to me. Had a page when I worked in music. Which was quite surreal but, a thing that happened. One day I went to show someone and lo, and behold, it'd gone. I assume because someone there rightly wondered, who's this guy? And killed it. Fair enough. But a fun thing, nonetheless.

For @wired.com, I wrote about the unusual experience of having a Wikipedia page about yourself — and then being told you were never notable enough to have had one in the first place www.wired.com/story/the-tr...

Tfw your preferred late-night comedy modifier is tomfoolery but Netflix's mood-based curation only covers high jinks and silly sausages. Pfft.

If I had a magic work wand, [place of work] would buy Arkane. But I don't so I'll just cross my fingers that we don't see another studio disappear forever.

If you're a Kindle user, you may be interested in my history of those games-playing things under your tellyboxes, which is just £1.99 right now on said digital format. Here's what it looks like.

This book is super.

Out now! A fresh print run of my beat ‘em up history book is available over at @bitmapbooks.com This sucker keeps selling out, so be sure to grab a copy during this wave! It features over 200 brawlers, I musing Streets of Rage, Final Fight, TMNT, Double Dragon and more.

It's been out a wee while but I'm still very happy to send review copies of Aliens: The Video Games to interested folks. Or chat about it with you on a podcast or via email. Or send you 400 words on why you're wrong about Colonial Marines. Maybe.

If you've bought it: amazing. If you've bought it, liked it, and were able to leave a review somewhere like Amazon or where you bought it from: amazing-er.

Posted a couple of these, this morning. Thanks, those folk, for ordering one. I've two or three copies left now. If you're in the market for a signed/personalised one. (Or not, but they cost more from me than Amazon, so I need to offer some sort of perk?)

Thanks to everyone who came to our talk/launch yesterday. A pleasantly full room and you were all so engaged and polite and generous with your feedback. I have a few copies of Aliens: The Video Games left over. I can sell these at RRP, post included, UK only. Reply/DM if interested.

One single day. Solicitor's office. 2002. Somewhere near Hendon? Just so joyless I called late on day one and left a message saying I wouldn't be back. I chose unemployment instead. Also the only job I've ever had where I had to dress formally. Brrr. Not for me.

This post is unavailable.

Some rough maths later, putting on Wednesday's Aliens: The Video Games event in Brighton has cost me (i.e. I am in the red on it to the tune of) £180. That's before considering extra costs like ink for the printer for posters, travel costs to get me to the venue a few times. Wanna buy a book?

Stick another £100 ish on top for the earlier London event and yeeeah... I'm not gonna do these under my own steam anymore. The hope, obvs, is that book sales ultimately make this up. But that is absolutely not guaranteed. I need to sell quite a few copies!

A few years later SEGA would be supporting (to notably different levels) twice as many platforms. Just a wild time. Imagine any major console manufacturer today splitting itself across six systems. I'm talking Mega Drive, Mega CD, 32X, Master System, Game Gear, Saturn. Can we count the Pico, too?

Sega does it all. Double page promo in the October 1991 issue of EGM. Which was *counts the years* quite some time ago now… #Sega #SegaGenesis #GameGear #MasterSystem #EGM #MegaDrive ☀️🌴

To the two chaps you travelled from Clacton for the event last night, bought books and asked questions: bloomin' heck, thank you. You're absolute superstars for doing a five-hour round trip to hear some guys talk about Alien games. I hope you're having a chill Thursday. Your support: incredible.

Always think it's weird when people ask me to sign things but I'm happy to do that, put a wee message in the book, (within reason) whatever you like. I likely won't be doing any more events for this under my own steam now - too expensive, too stressful! But if any expos etc wanna talk, hiya.

Obviously (obviously) buying from me isn't the cheapest way to get a book. There are big retailers with substantial discounts who'llsend it to you likely faster than I can. Ultimately however you buy the book is a big thumbs up from this guy as it all helps. But also, buy it from me, cheers.

Gonna have both of these Alien 3s playable tonight, on original carts (albeit through newer, HDMI-friendly hardware). Did you have a favourite between the SNES and Mega Drive versions?

I've a very small number of copies of both Indie Games and Retro Gaming, which I've hooked out of storage and will bring tonight. Aliens: The Video Games will be priced at £25 (£4.99 off RRP) and if you want either of these other books with it, add a fiver. Otherwise I'll sell them for £10 each.

My kids' friends only ever ask me about GTA and CoD. My kids themselves? When we're getting a Switch 2 so they can play Splatoon Raiders.
