Having now spent a couple of years on this app, the consensus seems to be that Staten Island is a lost cause. It is very alienating to see the only thing politically like-minded individuals will do to address that is disparage us. Be different, be better. Help make NYC fully blue!

It's a great initiative and I'm happy to see it, but it really seems like we're putting the cart before the horse here. A bike path from bridge-to-bridge is great but when one bridge takes you to nothing in Bayonne and the other can't be crossed on bike, we're not making anything reliable

Yeah, there's a light rail in Bayonne, so I guess people can bike or bus from this project to the cities we're currently modeling and then take their better transportation options elsewhere. So unless residents plan to live and work in SI, we're adding more cars with zero infrastructure spending.

And while I'm sure there are better minds for this undertaking, the overlooked problem continues to be transportation. If you add 10,000 people to a car-centric borough without providing better options for getting around while knowing the area can't support it, noone is going to want to live there.

Staten Island ferry is roughly 30 minutes to two trains and the fast ferry take roughly 20-30 minutes depending on location. If Hoboken is the model, their ferry is 10 min to midtown, their PATH train, ~15 minutes, and their buses also take less that 30 min.

Just want to clarify for those that can't read the article. He owns two homes on the block, one that his mother lives in. He received a letter that he POTENTIALLY will be taxed and if he feels that is wrong, can apply for exemption at nyc.gov/npsurcharge. It's an article about potential oversight.

NYC Mayor Mamdani said he was taxing the rich. The middle-class neighbors on Staten Island’s Abingdon Avenue don’t know why they are on the Department of Finance’s hit list

I urge all registered Democrats to get out and vote during the ghost primary in NY11. I am the only Congressional Candidate running an active campaign in the June Democratic primary. #NY11 #StatenIsland #SouthBrooklyn #Congress #NYC

Support request from a trusted comrade. House of Hope is a home on Staten Island that has been sheltering 7 evacuees from Gaza for the past year. They're short on rent and looking to raise $1900 ASAP. I chipped in, please help if you're able: venmo.com/u/Displaced_

There's 2x more people polled leaving in Brooklyn and almost 3x more people in Queens... Man, this place really did turn into it's own echo chamber. Noone read the article, nevermind the actual poll. I thought we were better than this.

It is just genuinely sad that BlueSky, and the New Yorkers on it, are willing to parade around scapegoating Staten Island when numbers show (in their linked artt.) there are more problematic people in their own boroughs. But because we only have 500k people here, the percentages look much worse.

People of Bluesky, the people using the Staten Island ferry are among you; Conservatives here don't go to the city because Manhattan is scary. If they were going anywhere, they'd use 1 of their families 3-6 cars. You're not owning anyone, you look foolish. Insult the conservatives in your own boro

In regards to free transit, with the existence of 27 express buses, as well as being a car centric borough due to the efforts of Robert Moses and the city itself, why would you vilify ferry riders who get off the ferry both ways and have to take *checks notes* transit?!

Even though Mamdani is only polling equal to Cuomo and Silwa on Staten Island, this is progress. This is the effort of those that volunteered, an active base, and a populace capable of growth and change. Hope to see Malliotakis handled next.

It sucks that NHL26 is making headlines, because this dog shit franchise hasn't changed a fucking thing in 10 years and now has some publicity because of the cock sucker on the cover.

Well done EA Sports! Your new face of the NHL Matthew Tkachuk just joined the President's Council on Physical Fitness and its other member, Registered Sex Offender Lawrence Taylor That's EA Sports and NHL26 figuratively in bed with a statutory rapist
