Mike Sterling, A Halloween Comic Shipping First Week of November

Hey, pals new and old...I am prone to typos, for which I apologize. Either I'm typing too fast, or it's very late and I'm tired, or maybe my eye troubles are popping up again. I promise it's not because I'm stupid. Far as I know, anyway.

Bought a used Dracula costume and got a rash. I got a Monster Rash.

Good time to reread this.

I of course loved him as Chekov, but playing Bester on BABYLON 5 really showed his range. You really forgot the guy ever *was* Chekov in that role. RIP Walter Koenig.

Oh, hey, new post is up, featuring an artistic cameo by @andrecomics.bsky.social! www.progressiveruin.com/2026/10/26/n...

You know what, I just muted that particular subbed and stacked word forever on this site. That makes things easier.

People telling me Substack's fine because [whatever] will just get muted. Sorry, don't want to hear it.

Obviously a literal expression of the duality of body and spirit.

no I'm not participating in your Substack, sorry...you should get off Substack instead

Oh, and one more thing...I was watching the new MST3K episode "Deathsport," and boy, look at the extra detail you can see in the silhouettes for Mike and the bots. That looks really nice. I don't remember seeming them lit quite like this before.

Speaking of blogging, I was all set to write the next part of "My Fantastic Four-ay" but realized the button I wanted to put on it is from this week's FF, which isn't out 'til Wednesday. Looks like the Four-ay is postponed 'til Frid-ay.

do you realize I've been writing a comic blog for 40% of my life and I just calculated how long I've been in comics retail, and no joke, it came out to 66.6% of my life that checks out

me rethinking a post title from my blog last week: "yeeeeah that's too heavy a reference for a joke, I'd better change it" the following day: two podcasts I listen to each make a lighthearted reference to the same thing

Always know I'm in for a good time when someone leaves a comment under the name "Anonymous" - www.progressiveruin.com/2026/10/21/t...

me at the grocery store, picking out new car air fresheners

My name is Jenny. I no longer answer to Tony. I know this is complicated. Jenny Blake is the name I write under. Jenny Blake Isabella will be my legal name. Tony Isabella is the name on my previous work. I haven't figured out how to change my email address yet. Complicated.

Boy, I sure got a lot of good 'n' interesting responses to this! I really appreciate them all!

Thank for the inspiration! #alphaflight #horseart #grids #aurora #marvelfanart #marvelcomics #ponies

Okay, I have a question for comic artists out there...every time I see this cover, I think "this must have been a pain to draw." Am I right? Do artists see this and think "ugh, give me cars or horses to draw instead," or is it something relatively simple but time-consuming? I'm genuinely curious.

Think I annoyed a customer because I double checked how he put books back into a back issue bin. Too bad, some *were* out of order.

When they did this to my old place of employment, we just stopped carrying them.

Realtor email: "move your shop to" [basically next door to another comic shop] yeah...I'm trying to stay on good terms with other nearby stores, I don't think this would help also the rent you're asking is full Nutsy Squirrel

"I hate the TV show, and I have the movie too" -- thanks drive-by commenter, I'll block you so you don't have to hear any more about it

One of the great indie short-run anthology comics!

UMMMM...maybe it was a little TOO dark for, like, a blog post about an art book. I changed the title and URL. Yes, I'm a big chicken.

Oh my goodness, it's been so many years I can't be sure. It may have been a combo Pong/light gun TV game my neighbors across the street had, circa 1976? I don't think my first was an actual arcade machine, but that followed with great haste, I'm positive.

Okay, super dark joke coming in as the title of my next ProgRuin post (up in a few minutes). I apologize in advance.

Only have the vaguest memories of GOOBER AND THE GHOST CHASERS, an early '70s "variation" (shall we say) of SCOOBY-DOO, with a talking dog that could turn invisible, and also guest-starred PARTRIDGE FAMILY characters. No, I didn't have a stroke while typing this. www.youtube.com/watch?v=vC3H...

Also, a great afterword by Diana Schutz!
