just got back from seeing Wildwood
the stop motion is so fluid and expressive I could barely believe it wasn't 3d animation
god I want to see an in-depth documentary on the making of this movie
I think the funniest was when we had some assignment related to depicting a 'harsh winter', and me with my sense of humor formed by Newgrounds flashes drew a snowman on fire. this was somehow interpreted as a threat to set my teacher on fire and got my parents called into a conference over it
wowee it sucked as a kid being obsessed with The Matrix right in the wake of Columbine, and having my notebook doodles interpreted as "my plans to shoot up the school" and being threatened with expulsion over it
So the "advice" doled out in this column makes me INCREDIBLY fucking angry as a former kid who was repeatedly taken to task by teachers for "inappropriate" drawings, culminating in a 9th-grade suspension spurred by Columbine paranoia and residual Satanic Panic. Arionne here says that was JUSTIFIED.
We, internationally, need to do exactly what the Brazilians did and lead by example with:
1) Block all far right figures/accounts
2) Never share a far right account even to dunk on them
3) Never reply to a far right account even to dunk on them
Completely cut their algorithmic advantage
Art of The Guardian Legend's heroine! She's Miria in Japan but is never named in the translated version, apart from being called The Guardian. Some folks refer to her as Alyssa, but I don't think that's canon.
Anyway, I love these. The last one looks like it came from an old Nintendo Power spread.
I've been going down a Grinch hole today, unsuccessfully trying to figure out the artist of this weirdly sexy Grinch. The GBC game is the famous example, but not the origin! For some reason this was apparently just the corporate-mandated design for a non-Jim-Carrey Grinch around the early 2000s
this being part of the standard opening in first gundam is a kind of shocking detail that both sets the tone yet oddly doesn't get commented on much in the show. people took this massive loss of life and just kinda moved on as best they could
This owl was getting banded and tagged by the Rocky Point Bird Observatory. For the owlβs safety, he/she was wrapped up.
These photosβ¦π€£π¦. So cute.
one thing I don't like is when people talk about hypothetical automated futures where nobody has to work, and say they could be bad because their lives would be "sapped of meaning." like get over it big dog, get a hobby
