Mistigram: "Aaargh!..." With a little assistance from LDA and Moth, Cthulu drew this #ANSIart adaptation of the poster art to 1978's musical-comedy-horror movie #AttackOfTheKillerTomatoes. It was included in the spooky MIST1024 artpack collection released two years ago this month.

Mistigram: possibly no urban myth is as profoundly disturbing as the life of #MichaelJackson, so with a week to go to Halloween, here's Kurogao's #emoji/#ASCIIart composition the King of Pop's #Thriller. This piece was included in the spooky MIST1021 artpack released five years ago this month.

Mistigram: From 104 years ago, here's the terrifying vampiric #silhouette of #MaxSchreck in FW Murnau's #Nosferatu, illustrated in #teletext by Uglifruit. This screen was included in the spooky MIST1020 artpack collection released six years ago this month.

Mistigram: The Pixelmancer (a side project of 192.168.10.13) glitched and distressed this cranium, tortuously titled "₵Ø₥ł₦₲₮ⱧⱤØɄ₲Ⱨ ł₦ ₩₳VɆ₴". We included it in the spooky MIST1019 artpack collection released seven years ago this month.

Mistigram: Do you mind? Some of us undead spectres like to keep things dim down here in the catacombs, our rotten eyeballs are very sensitive to the light! This charming #pixelart animation was made by Mentalpop and included in the spooky MIST1018 artpack released eight years ago this month!

Mistigram: this is an excerpt of #EdgarAllanPoe's poem #TheCityInTheSea, illustrated in #ANSIart in Lobo Spitoufs' #ANSIPOE collection for BBS enjoyment of the classics... repackaged and included in the spooky MIST1017 artpack collection released nine years ago this month!

Mistigram: #Umbreon is a Dark-type #Pokemon from Generation II and I bet you didn't know that they had a suitable temperament to serve as a wizard's familiar? At least, that is the story emme_doble was telling us with this #pixelart mashup, which we included ...

Mistigram: Renaissance man Skonen_blades often undertakes seasonal drawing challenges (currently: MODOK mash-ups), and back in 2020 he visited a series of alt witches on career day flying the wooden tools of their trade across the seasonal skies.

Mistigram: this digital illustration of #JeffreyCombs as #HerbertWest in the 1985 "science fiction comedy horror" movie #ReAnimator was drawn, very greenly, by @horsenburger. It was included in the spooky MIST1021 artpack collection released five years ago this month.

Really weird to see something you vaguely recognise on your timeline, before remembering that you actually drew it yourself, erm.. 39 years ago I think.

The very British future of a distant colony world, one where the currency is 'Dosh'. 📺: Amaurote, Binary Design Ltd, 1987.

We hoped to repay the favour with Mist artists making guest appearances in the planned debut Pizzatoe release a year ago, but no one ever figured out how or why that one fell through. On a still autumn night some say you can still hear them planning their artpack launch!

Mistigram: The words look gnarly, but the words aren't. WTF? Cth was taken by #DrueLanglois' 2022 video for the #ShoebodyBop song by the Minute Hour. He'd roughed out an #ANSIart sketch depicting a cultist invokation which LDA and @zeusii.bsky.social fleshed out taken in a different direction.

Mistigram: this hypnotic Twilight Zone-ish greyscale #ANSIart screen, "Ghost Machine Swirl", was drawn by Darkman Almighty and included in the spooky MIST1024 artpack collection released two years ago this month. Are you the ghost? Are you in the machine, or is it in you?

Mistigram: this detailed monochrome #teletext skull was drawn by @atonalosprey (surely in some kind of conversation with bonemeister littlebitspace!) and included in the spooky MIST1023 artpack collection released three years ago this month.

Mistigram: this creepy little skeletal pirate dude was adapted to #ANSIart by DW of Dark Systems BBS, and we included it as an infofile illustration in the spooky MIST1022 artpack collection released four years ago this month.

Mistigram: "Things in the Walls" is a Lovecraftian #PETSCII illustration drawn by Bema, included in the spooky MIST1021 artpack collection and also in the #Commodore64 "The Nameless PETSCII" slideshow released the following month.

We'll continue sharing spooky computer art in (primarily) vintage formats all month, friends, but hopefully we'll also be dropping a new, fresh collection of ... more of the same ... in about three weeks' time. If you'd like to cook something spooky up and be part of it, please look us up!

Mistigram: you might feel like a turd discovering that someone else at the costume party has the same costume as the one you thought would be very unique and original on you, but doubly so when your shared costume is literally the dookie emoji!

Mistigram: if you haven't yet enjoyed today's dose of CONTENTover social media, @atonalosprey is here to remedy this lack with his #teletext dispensation, now conveniently packaged in capsule form! This screen was included in last month's unthemed MIST0826 artpack collection.

Mistigram: in last month's unthemed MIST0826 artpack, Cthulu was explicitly looking to adapt imagery suggestive of Mist's origins in area code 604 (aka #Vancouver) and one place his search brought him was artist-author #DouglasCoupland's 2009 sculpture #DigitalOrca, installed in #CoalHarbour.

Though the sculpture is located in the Downtown viewed from afar in Nitron's landscape yesterday, you will note that (coincidentally) the specific stretch of North Shore Mountains depicted in the far background is virtually identical in both works and can practically be made to overlap each other.

It was also sent to the edge of space, though this particular artwork wasn't shown in the final video of that (probably because it's too much of a pasty-che)!
