Lula has been reelected president, Brazilian media has now called. An extraordinary comeback for the left-wing politician who trailed by 2 points in round 1 but managed to hold off Flávio Bolsonaro, the former president's son.

Still counting. But looking good. For the people of Brazil and for the planet we share, this is such a vital election. 🤞🤞🤞

Taniel@taniel.bsky.social

Lula has taken the overall, countrywide lead back. With 62% of precincts counted, he is ahead 50.6% to 49.4%, which is an edge of roughly 900,000 votes. He is also getting the shift he needs (compared to the first round) in virtually every state that has reported most of the vote.

Go fuck yourself Turek. You don’t deserve to win. Wahls should have won the primary.

Erin Reed@erininthemorning.com

Josh Turek of Iowa, Democrat, comes out with one of the worst anti-trans ads yet. Not only is it an anti-sports ad, it proposes a ban on federal funding for gender affirming care. That would hit all medicaid and medicare patients, and any ACA federally-subsidized plans as well. Horrific.

I’d like every Dem running for office to take notes. “Let people live their lives in peace” is simple and popular. Say that and keep saying it.

Let's go, Sam Forstag! That's how you stand up for trans people on the national stage. If congressional candidates in western Montana—one of the most competitive House races in the entire country—can stand up for trans folks in every aspect of our lives, democrats everywhere should take note.

wrote on saturday that trump was not going to let democrats avoid the question of impeachment and here we are with an offense that would have had a president impeached, removed and *at least* exiled if it had happened at any point prior to now.

I’m ok. Make no mistake: this is an attempt to target political enemies and weaponize federal law enforcement. For ten years, Trump has targeted me with baseless lies and smear campaigns. This is just the latest escalation in his campaign of political intimidation. I will not be silenced.

The NYT dropped 5 major Senate polls this morning — and they tell you exactly why the GOP is freaking out about the Senate. Alaska: Peltola up 50/43 Texas: Talarico up 51/45 Ohio: Brown up 49/46 Kansas: a 45/45 tie Iowa: Hinson up 48/47.

Latest WSJ poll: "63% want to pause AI development 61% want a billionaire wealth tax 59% want Medicare for All 57% want a $20 minimum wage 58% want to end U.S. military aid to Israel" This is the center of the country politically. it is time all adjust to this political spectrum, esp. media.

Between the Sankey diagram and today’s hearing, BlueSky is giving early Twitter vibes and I love it.

Not sure if they're cowards who don't want to take him on or if they're complicit in taking money from him and people like him, but it's staggering. Standing up to Elon Musk should be an easy layup for any Democrat.

Trump is historically unpopular, launching an illegal war no one wants, doing everything he can to increase prices, and breaking records for corruption. Any Democrat running for office who embraces transphobic talking points is acting like a loser in a defensive crouch. Nobody likes losers.

Yep. The way Talerico, Pelota, Acton, and others have thrown trans folks under the bus is embarrassing. I hope Dems win because there will be some check on the evil, but I’m not excited about it.

@aoc.bsky.social just put out a great statement on AI. Refreshing to see a major politician on the left nail this. "Silicon Valley billionaires want us to believe that Al robots will destroy humanity. But the biggest threat to humanity are the tech oligarchs themselves." 🎯

This is really informative. Just to add the theological point: the claims of AGI very much resemble pre-millennial apocalypticism ideology. Todays Millerites.

So you just learned about the AI cult, huh? Here is the longform explainer you need to make sense of the very, very strange ideas driving tech policy in 2026. Buckle up, it’s a wild ride. www.techpolicy.press/what-policym...

If the real divide is Team Fight vs Team Fold, and both Dems and independents desperately want Team Fight, then why would you fold?? Throwing trans people under this doesn’t signal moderation. It signals cowardice.

Erin Reed@erininthemorning.com

Some Dems are running away from trans people. Abdul El-Sayed, Dem Senate Candidate in Michigan, is running towards them. When asked, he fully and unequivocally support trans youth care as a matter between parents, patients, and doctors. Subscribe to support our journalism.

Once you notice this, it's the most obvious double standard in the political press. Democrats have to answer for the smallest voice even if it has no actual tie to them, but Republicans never have to answer for the insanely racist billionaire donor driving their entire party.

Schooley@schooley.bsky.social

Democrats who have had absolutely nothing to do with Hasan Piker will be hounded about him, while Republicans who are directly benefitting from Musk funding will be asked about him in the most generic "money in politics" way, if at all.
