Tech Artist at SONKA, working on Holstin!
I like and talk about: gamedev, graphics programming, tech art, procedural generation, shaders, blender, art in general.
In our next Tiny Glade update we'll bump the light limit from 32 to 32k while keeping the cost more or less the same.
The small limit has been a cop out, as we didn't quite know how to render huge numbers of (screen-space) shadow-casting lights without severe performance degradation.
I wanted to build some gunpla. I don't have runners stands, so I decided to design and 3D print them. I wanted to see real dimensions on my screen, but there is no such feature in #blender. :(
Anyway. I will be releasing an extension that zooms the viewport to real-world size.
#Unity custom vertex #shader question. How to get proper selection and selection highlight in scene view?
I'm using the Amplify Shader Editor. What do I need to do to make meshes selectable by shapes from vertex shaders and not original mesh data?
We contribute to the Blender's dev fund, on a monthly basis.
As @rileyb3d.bsky.social mentions, and that's on point, "There's a long way to go from 0.1% to 2% so GO make a difference and donate. I remember the last big dev-fund push changed the software forever (2.8)".
Make a difference.

CALLING ALL MECHA ARTISTS 🗣️📢
Let's do a Bluesky mecha artshare! Reply with your drawings, animations, gunpla, or whatever you make...as long as it's mecha! I'll repost as many as I can 🫡
Calling Polish game devs! 🇵🇱
As more of us arrive here on Bluesky it would be great to re-create the network we've had.
Here's a Polish Game Dev starter pack to make it easier. Please let me know if I should add you or someone, and consider reposting for reach!

I have a theory that if you give a 30+ yo slavic person any device that can potentially play games, eventually they will try to run Heroes of Might and Magic 3 on it.
Scam PSA:
Heads up folks, there are now bots on here who will make clone accounts and dm you asking for donations if you offer support to real people. New platform means you are less likely to have dm history with someone so even if you think you know them, just be extra observant.
Hi all,
I’m Nate Storm, an art nerd that likes to sculpt monsters in zbrush, 3D print things, explore VR and VR art tools, and by day Im an Art Director at a video game/tabletop game studio. Currently in Los Angeles
I’m excited to join the community here!
Wassup folks, coming at you with another gamedev tip.
"Why are normal maps blue?"
Normal maps are blue because, within the visible spectrum of light, blue is closest to ultaviolets (UVs) light, and your UVs go on top of your normal map (purples) so it makes sense they're next to each other
Reported a blender bug today. Let's see how fast they will tackle it. Couple years ago I reported some hard to catch buffer overflow bug and it was fixed in less than a hour, lol. I love those folks.

There’s always been this curious elitism with programmers about debugging, and how using a debugger and break points is the “one true way” to debug code to rule them all. And by extension anyone who uses print based debugging is a fool.
I use both, but mostly print based debugging.
