Nikole Hannah-Jones’ writing published today is essential, and in the spirit of pinpointing overlapping structural policy failures that lead to unequal schools, I’ll say that with the right clarity of purpose, housing advocates have in zoning reform a powerful tool for longterm school integration

#a2council here are the our residential parcels by year of construction. This is an overcount because Ann Arbor has vacant parcels marked as residential instead of residential vacant. Ann Arbor builds little housing, and if we didn't build condos, Ann Arbor wouldn't build any housing at all

Ann Arbor is just building so little.

[1/2] The purpose of this questionnaire is to educate voters about City Council candidate positions on critical issues facing Ann Arbor. Our goal was always 100% participation from candidates, so we are disappointed that some did not participate.

[2/2] We provided ample opportunity for candidates to respond, and we committed to publishing candidates' answers in full, unedited. Candidates' responses are presented incumbent first, then challenger. If there are no incumbents, candidates are presented in alphabetical order based on last name.

Our outreach has been consistent and fair, providing ample opportunity for candidates to respond or to ask questions. * We invited all to our general meeting in mid-April. Many candidates attended, included some who in the end did not answer the questionnaire.

* We sent the q'aire by email on April 24. It stated our commitment to publish answers in full, unedited. * The 1st deadline passed on May 15, but we extended it and followed up with non-respondents. * With our encouragement, many voters directly asked their candidates to answer the questionnaire.

Since we started this work, our purpose has been to educate voters about critical issues for the future of Ann Arbor. We believe that voters should know where their candidates stand on these issues. Our goal was always 100% participation, so we are disappointed that we did not receive all answers.
