I've always believed Oxford Street could be so much more than a road. Today we begin a new chapter as the nation’s high street goes traffic free, creating a place where people can spend time, enjoy the atmosphere and experience the very best of our city.

In 2018, I passed out fliers asking voters to oppose a charter amendment to preserve a parking lot in perpetuity. Park plans were not based on physics or funding realities. But all other props were yes votes so it was a heavier lift to discern why it was good to be “anti-park.” #a2council deja vu.

A Mom pushing a stroller passed me and circled back to angrily ask, “what do you have against marijuana?” I explained that this was for a city proposal, not the one legalizing marijuana in the state.

Mistaken as a staffer for my Congresswoman and happily helped take photos for superfans. We were in good company at a fundraiser supporting an interfaith shelter for homeless families.

Revisiting plans for the utility Ann Arbor already manages since our water source is separate from the Great Lakes Water Authority. We decided to spend $108M to rebuild our water treatment plant instead of $355M to connect to GLWA. #a2council www.michiganpublic.org/environment-...

We need updated numbers on construction costs as work was slated for this year. The initial study was commissioned in 2015. If financing and planning how to update our water utility takes 10-15 years, how long will it take for us to do this with DTE’s grid?https://www.a2wtpfacilityplan.com/faqs

Shared some tears and a moment of silence in remembrance of October 7th at my last JFS board meeting. This organization tirelessly advocates for New Americans much like how Lutherans resettled my parents 50 years ago. Love and care is the American Way.

Good morning, Jackson! Growing Jackson brought this food hub and market to life on the grounds of a former penitentiary that’s been converted to housing. Proud to support the work with a grant supporting food security. Former WIC kids like myself know this need well.

Photo collage of my first political fundraiser by my then 10 year old, from my library board run in 2016. We were a slate of 4 Moms, first-time candidates, and raised around $3K. It covered the whole campaign. We won 67.6% of the votes in a crowded field of 8 candidates. @aadl.org

Proud to be a leading sponsor for this organization’s work in housing equity and access in my county. Public and private, philanthropic partnerships are essential for abundant housing in this lifetime.

In the 1970s, over 80% of UK children travelled to school independently. This has fallen to 25% - impacting health, well being, independence etc. In London, we're tackling the school run. With 870 school streets, 66% of kids now walk, cycle or scoot. ldd.news/uk-news/lond...

I think often about a conversation with a tankie-type along these lines about housing. When I asked how actual houses and apartments would be allocated if not by the market, the straight-faced reply: “Community meetings”

Type of guy who wants a completely planned economy but also constantly disparages spreadsheet people is an amazingly common type of guy on the Internet. Who exactly do you think is going to be planning your socialist economy.

Dearborn, my hometown where I learned how to be American alongside kids from Lebanon, Yemen, and 2nd gen kids like me with family from Italy, Poland, and Vietnam. Share tabbouleh at school, wait for a friend to finish catechism, and your Dad works for Ford. Come visit, you’ll love the people & city.

Hints of Ann Arbor’s #a2council NIMBY nostalgia for former Kroger sites that now house hundreds of residents, and progressive candidates who claim not enough housing for low-income folks is being built when projects like these create multiples more than what was built decades before. MATH.

The Marina District is one of the wealthiest areas in San Francisco. It's incredibly damning that the self-proclaimed "progressive" candidate in the congressional race opposes the redevelopment of a Safeway into a 25 story apartment building, and claims that it will "destroy" the neighborhood.

On this day 7 years ago I asked neighborhood kids to write to their councilmembers in response to proposed crosswalk changes and one CM admitting she doesn’t always yield to pedestrians. Cards and drawings were emailed to all CMs so that they could be on the record, forever. #a2council

Ann Arbor historically responds to growth. In 1852, UM President Bannister moved students out of dorms and into community, leading to a boom building rooming houses that still stand today. This house was a boarding house, then SFH, duplex, currently rental apartments. #a2council

Ann Arbor vibes for decades, with the distinct honor of sharing activist Alan Haber’s efforts stopping developments in both Ann Arbor and Berkeley, protesting from his summer home in France. #a2council

Showing up for LGBTQ+ families means you rally electeds and pay for catering. Stay hydrated, eat your greens and proteins. Fortify yourselves for the fight ahead.

I give annual donations to AAPS social work offices. 25% of students qualify for free-reduced lunches, same stat for decades. Redlined families need help avoiding evictions to car repairs. Denying a housing crisis means you haven’t spoken to a social worker for awhile. www.cbpp.org/research/hou...

Time to check in on housing agencies struggling with new HUD guidelines that are a departure from the Housing First model AND explicitly erases LGBTQ communities. This puts 40% of CoC funding at risk. #a2council candidates should know this like their own muni budgets. nn4youth.org/2026/06/09/a...

My kid was so excited to spot this poster at school. This was my #a2council priority with ARPA funding. It was a fight, with critics insisting “no one asks for something like this.” Pandemic recovery dollars to those most impacted was the right choice regardless of whether they gave public comments.
