The @metoffice.gov.uk really does not like Shetland, I've only found out about 70 mph gales tomorrow from a neighbour, no weather warning for us, but yes for Orkney. A friend in Cambridgeshire has a warning for just 39 mph.

Apparently we're posting pictures of boats that we like today, I like mine, so here's my Coaster 33!

A magical morning at Sumburgh Head, Shetland watching at least six Minke Whales. Shortly after we found a 'superpod' of over 100 White-beaked Dolphins! Here's one of the Minkes... #MarineLife #MarineMammals #UKWildlife

Dolly Parton and Tim Curry have passed away, I must have hit that age when this starts to happen a lot. Slightly alarming.

The BBC has a map of the tunnels that Shetland Islands Council now formally supports building (from five years ago - this process has been going on for a while!). (Yes, I mostly posted this as an excuse to put the rest of the UK in a box)

Ridiculous that Tesco does not have any IT backup solutions. Even Argos stores in the 80s had a lights out plan to keep operational.

I can't decide if my meal on the Northlink Hjartland (not as good as the Hrossey) is good or terrible value at £27, the "Southern Fried Chicken Burger in a brioche bun" leaves a lot to be desired slapped in a bread roll.

If I'm not careful I'm going to spend the afternoon saying there is no place called "The Shetlands" and ignoring the political shift!

SNP have taken the Shetlands off the Lib Dems. The Libs have never lost that seat before. Makes an SNP majority more likely.

BREAKING: Hannah Mary Goodlad (Scottish National Party) has been elected the next MSP for Shetland with 47% of the vote. She is the first ever SNP constituency parliamentarian to be elected in Shetland, ending 76 years of continuous Liberal/Liberal Democrat victories at Holyrood and Westminster.

Wouldn't read too much into this, but it's interesting/noteworthy that, for the first time, pro-independence candidates received a majority of constituency votes in Shetland - 56.4% between them.

Would be helpful if the "free" internet on the boat was better than the current dial up speed experience. Like most things with the lifeline service, dated and oversubscribed.
