Anthropic's IPO will really tell us how long AI optimism will continue or if it will collapse. If it flops (I am not holding my breath for it), then it will really sow doubt in AI. If Anthropic can't exit large, how can other smaller start-ups? It'll be a good signal for me for job hunting.

Everyone want that Mamdani rizz and I fully support Katie to chase that.

You can always report potholes, problems, and yes – cracks – with the Find It, Fix It app. We caught up with @mayor.seattle.gov and SDOT Acting Director Angela Brady on 2nd Ave in downtown Seattle.

Y'all won't like me saying this but joke aside, paying even $400 for a mock interview is a good return for your investment (for folks actually landing interviews) since it can improve your chance of landing a job or gives you better leverage to argue for higher salary.

Every time I interview, I just tell myself that I'm actually saving $400. So if I have 3 interviews every day, I am basically making about $6000 a week.

Like, if you studied and did 10 of these, you'll be a pro at a certain kind of interview. If that gave you a 10% boost in landing a $200k job, spending $4000 is a drop in the bucket. Alternatively, performing well can help you negotiate for like a 10% increase, for example. $20k > $4k is the idea.

I am glad that the neighbor I am sharing a common sewer line with is a very reasonable human being. I've exchanged emails extensively with him, and he has been traumatized by the previous 2 owners of this house. He seems happy that we're reasonable as well.

I seriously don't know why companies are obsessed with senior engineers in the agentic coding world. (Companies that don't use AI are as common as 4-day workweek companies now.) So many juniors they can be hiring for half the price.

I'm telling you dude it's the age of loser dipshits. This whole tech sector, from the chatbots to the art generation to the voices, is built on this idea that being good at stuff is stupid and lame and somehow by not getting to enjoy the same praise skilled people do you are being denied or slighted

The first genuinely honest ad for generative AI I've ever seen, from Microsoft / CoPilot A mediocre white guy sees his non-white colleague getting praised for good work, he asks AI to *literally copy it*, and then he gets all the praise instead: www.ispot.tv/ad/SoDi/micr...

A Florida man was found dead in his home during a welfare check in July 2022. Weeks later, one of the officers who discovered his body moved into the home and spent years impersonating him, according to investigators.

I truly think one of the band of all times is Duran Duran. Like they literally were a bop in the 80s and even in 2020s, they widely listened to because they had a meme bop.

AI thrives in a culture that doesn't value excellence. It is simultaneously true that excellence isn't needed in certain aspects of our lives, and that without excellence, it will deeply rob us of our spirit.

I'm afraid that we just get used to worse products, shrinkflation, bad service, higher prices... the same way we just get used to AI slop. We as in maybe not you or me. But even if 30% of normies get used to AI slop, the world would be deprived of so much excellence.

In Japan, we say ノリが良い, which means you ride well. As a stereotype, Osakans ride well so if you stab someone in Osaka with an imaginary sword, they'll pretend to take damage. Where as if you did this in Tokyo, they'll look at you weird.

holy smokes, conan strikes up a chat with a random lady on the subway and she immediately starts riffing on his level, no problem.
