Me, to myself every Sunday night: “Tomorrow you will embark on another journey to the world of neurotypicals. Remember, you do not understand their culture and ways and they do not understand yours. You are a guest there, please do your best not to offend them by being culturally insensitive.”

*taps sign* if your writing is good and i want to share it, but it's on substack, i won't. substack intentionally uses your subscription fees to recruit and fund fascists. they pay them huge signing bonuses before they've earned a dollar. they don't just platform them, they create their platforms

i deleted the previous post with this bc the writer is on substack (with a custom domain). no reposts for substacks on my account with almost 17,000 followers.

Typed this earnestly and quickly. I will miss ~hearing from~ these creators. There’s been so much perceived collective loss over the last few months and it feels like things are picking up speed. Most days I’m doing my best to ignore it and focus on hope and joy within my immediate community.

Me too. So much. I ignored the fact that it would happen until now. Now I realize that I will miss heating for so many autistic creators. These parasocial relationships have bright me so much comfort and community in the last 3-4 years.

Think the TikTok ban is gonna crush me. TT has been an important space for me the last 2 years, it’s helped me understand myself so much more with all the content from the ND community. If you think I’m overreacting, then you don’t get what’s great about TT, and this post ain’t for you.

Did my First spin class today. My review: sweaty and boring. The worst parts of riding a bike and also you’re in a nightclub at 6am with someone yelling at you.

Flava Flav just called Paul the next Elon Musk. I hope he’s wrong, but also very much love the sentiment!

Maybe it’ll work this time guys!!!!!!! At least we can have good vibes for a little while. Kinda feels like the plot to Jurassic World though…

Bluesky feels like I took a Time Machine back to 2009 when I was still like “Hey this social media thing is going to make the world a better place.”

Just finished reading String Female Character by Fern Brady. It is so good. It’s a first hand account of undiagnosed and untreated autism. Her takes on being neurodivergent are so gracious and understanding of context, but don’t pull any punches.

Today’s episode showed how tricycles were manufactured. Fred had such a knack for finding wonder in everything. “Oh isn’t that marvellous,” he’d say as Mr. McFeeley described some random step in the process. And it was marvellous! He was right!

Watching Mr. Rogers with my kids is one of my very favourite things about being a dad.

Is there any app or open source project that can take a bunch of calendar feeds to merge them all to create one single feed that I can put into my work calendar for availability reasons?

Pretending nothing is going on and I don’t have anxiety about what is happening today. I’m think I can keep scrolling this way

I’m in a slack where someone is on a quest to find the mintiest mint and I think that’s just the most beautiful and pure thing.

Got laid off from my VC backed hyper growth job along with almost half the company last week. I feel for all of us whose lives have been disrupted. It was a really, really good crew. But, I’m fine. Not really upset or even surprised now that I’ve had a few days to reflect.

34 years ago today, 14 women, most of whom were studying engineering, were killed by an anti-feminist gun man at École Polytechnique in Montreal. I was a young graduate student studying physics at the time and I will never forget. #MontrealMassacre #NeverForget #WomenInSTEM 🧪🌹

I would like for there to be many, many more TV shows created by Josh Thomas. Please Like Me and Everything's Gonna be Okay are both perfection.

I think I’m not burned out anymore. It’s weird to not feel scared of disaster all the time. Life is so much better this way!

I’m wondering if there’s a tie Effective Altruism and the growth of impact funds. FWIW, the company I cofounded was largely funded by an impact fund. What’s talked about in this article feels very familiar. “How do we measure your impact?” was a big question. Feels very aligned with EA.

New job surprised me with a “We made a mistake levelling you and will bump up your position immediately. This isn’t a promotion, because you’re already doing this job, it’s us acknowledging that we made a mistake.” Best surprise!

People are more afraid of autism than rabies. Cool. Cool cool cool.

Faine Greenwood@faineg.com

“More than a third of the dog owners surveyed believe canine vaccination can cause autism in pets.” aaaahhhhhhhhhhhhhhh https://thebulletin.org/2023/09/rabid-anti-vaxxers-could-help-spread-deadly-disease/

Yesterday I got a booster, tweaked my back at the gym, and slept poorly last night because of those things and my small children. Got all the inflammations today.
