NEW: "Donald Trump was an active participant in Jeffrey Epsteinโ€™s sexual abuse of young women during the mid-to-late 1990s," per new House Judiciary Dem report. Report has new allegation that Trump raped a 24-year-old and then promised the victim a visa & NYU admission, demanding she stay quiet.

Three years ago, my dad said that all fish are the same shape. Out of spite, I decided to draw all 478 families of bony fish listed in Nelson 2016. There's still some stuff I need to edit and some fish I want to redraw but, after 985 days, I finished my big dumb fish project last night.

I defended my dissertation and started my teaching career using overhead projectors. Now I use a document camera when I want to solve a problem in front of a large class. ๐ŸŽข๐ŸŽ

On "Version History," a podcast series from the Verge about tech products of the past, Professor Antero Garcia looks back at how overhead projectors were developed, how they made their way into classrooms, and how they changed so much about the way kids learn. #EduSky #AcademicSky

๐ŸงตYesterday, British Columbia elected a Conservative majority government that ran on a platform of tax cuts and accelerating the pillaging of nature, or what the party calls โ€œnatural resources exploitation.โ€ They also ran on attacking Indigenous sovereignty and trans rights.

As I've said before, it's only once I became a professor that I realized the entmoot, a meeting that goes on for three days and three nights, was a professor's joke about faculty meetings.

The Lord of the Rings is essentially a series of faculty meetings broken up by several long walks in the countryside.

Hey I tried to DM but itโ€™s turned off. Do you know any spay/neuter release providers in the Phoenix area? We have a mamma cat that lives under our house we really need spayed but havenโ€™t found any legit resources. Thanks!

Obama: "You got the defense sec who is like a laser focused on important matters like the jawline & testosterone level of our troops, and livestreaming executions because that's how he thinks you cultivate that manly warrior spirit. How much time do you think this man spends in front of the mirror?"

Healthcare is on the table tomorrow. Ontario and Alberta have shown us what Conservative leadership looks like. Private clinics suck workers and money out of the public system. Healthcare should not be a pay-to-play system. #bcpoli #bcelection

This is sad. What about all of those professors who taught people science when they were at college or university? Theyโ€™re scientists. ๐Ÿงช

Every year, Research!America does a poll that asks, "Can you name a living scientist?" In January 2026, 76% of respondents said "no." Of those who said "yes," 5% named a scientist who was, in fact, dead. www.researchamerica.org/blog/can-you...

Yeah, we made some choices too. And Beth Schussler has a really nice paper on some of these โ€˜two-body problemโ€™ experiences in science: www.lifescied.org/doi/pdf/10.1...

When I was hired at my current job, two of my female colleagues were married to physicists (as am I), two were married to scientists, and one was not married. With my current female colleagues, there are fewer physicist spouses, but they are still primarily in STEM.

physicstoday.aip.orgNavigating academia as a dual-career coupleMyriad solutions emerge in the stressful process of balancing professional ambition and personal happiness.

I think universities still need to do more to accommodate dual-career couples. There should be money set aside to support the salaries of the spouses of new hires and a system in place to create new positions where needed. So many women scientists are in dual-academic-career couples.
