The Diplomat is Mary Poppins but where the Nanny is The US ambassador to the UK and Dick van Dyke is Ross Poldark. It's so silly.

Busy out in the bay this morning. Lots of ships waiting for better weather before venturing out into the Atlantic, and at least one Russian shadow fleet cargo ship en route to Turkey.

its 10am why is it dark? I'm back in Devon after a very late train last night and had big ambitions of getting out for a look at the sea and a stroll but it's filthy out there and I can't be arsed. Normal morning sea video programming will resume once the weather stops being a twat.

The sky was very good this morning. I'd been out of the house for a couple of hours before sunrise and the weather had been calm all morning until five minutes before the sun came up when it started absolutely hammering it down.

Paul Gascoigne, Jimmy Nail, Ant and Dec, Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman, Robson Green, your boys took a hell of a beating. #PUSB #COVNEW

Finding references to my work in the agent instructions in other people's projects on GitHub is kind of amusing. No credit, no email to say 'hey thanks for your work on x, I'm using it to help with my work on y'. I guess that's where we are at now.

After some major spelunking into weird corners of the internet I got my hands on a Sony credit card sized SRF-220 FM/AM radio. This one has a ukiyoe print on it and takes a 2.5mm headphone jack which is deeply inconvenient, but I wanted to carry a radio in my wallet and so that was the trade-off.

I woke up annoyed this morning at the way corporate PR and organisational mechanics have somehow become cultural output. Why the fuck are people listening to mediocre middle managers making shitty podcasts? Why are designers fawning over rebrands like they are films or books or great albums?

It is the aestheticisation of commerce and it is eating actual cultural output - we are letting men in quarter-zip fleeces commission documentaries about funding rounds instead of letting actual artists make actual art.

Why do I know who Steven Bartlett is?! Why is there a film about WeWork? Why do we let former FANNG staff do reputation laundering via shitty books and then invite them to actual literary festivals to talk about them?

Have we really run out of ideas for stories to the extent that we have to keep sharing that video of Nike giving a royalty cheque to a logo designer?

This game has 3rd minute Mad Utd goal/Spurs red card and shambolic collapse written all over it. Maybe it'll be good for them to go down, regroup, win a few more games, build a bit of positive momentum and then try and come back as a team that knows how to play. #MANTOT #football
