Anyone else get 5kg of cheese delivered IN A COOL WOODEN CRATE? Honestly, I think I’m more excited for the crate (unexpected) than the cheese (definitely expected).

Important message for anyone who doesn't want to spend all their time online being annoyed. That's not a life. No one wants that.

Michael Hobbes@michaelhobbes.bsky.social

"You can't block someone just for being annoying!" Those are actually the most important people to block

Really struggling with this sudoku (grey squares should have one of each number too). Any pointers or numbers to particularly focus on to get me moving again? #sudoku

Just back from the #Ghosts film. Absolutely superb, such a lovely film and homage to those amazing films we watched as kids in the 80s.

1) This rules 2) Your dad annoying you so profoundly that you drew 478 fish is the most relatable thing I have ever seen.

HulloThere@jethroreading32.bsky.social

Three years ago, my dad said that all fish are the same shape. Out of spite, I decided to draw all 478 families of bony fish listed in Nelson 2016. There's still some stuff I need to edit and some fish I want to redraw but, after 985 days, I finished my big dumb fish project last night.

Next, a new one: Sea Salt and Paper. Confounding instructions. Pretty cards but a frustrating first few rounds. Constant counting of points makes me feel like I’m on a school trip, counting my group heads constantly.

Dreadful

One woman scientist named in UK’s GCSE science syllabus. Three named in A level science. How many men? 85 and 178. Funny that. Half of my 50 PhD students have been women; four of them (and one man) are now professors. www.bbc.co.uk/news/article...

Love this

I'd also be quite comfortable with the BBC saying: "We don't hire famous people; we create them." It hires unknowns, develops them, then sets them free to disappear to ITV or Sky or Netflix or wherever they can earn the big bucks. See also: developing formats.

This is one of those things which is funny, dystopian, accurate and dark all at once.

The first genuinely honest ad for generative AI I've ever seen, from Microsoft / CoPilot A mediocre white guy sees his non-white colleague getting praised for good work, he asks AI to *literally copy it*, and then he gets all the praise instead: www.ispot.tv/ad/SoDi/micr...

I wear one at night to stop it sounding like I’m sleeping with a bag of quavers under the duvet. #stoma

There are so many types of #ostomy bag covers available in different designs, colors, patterns, and prints, and also elastic and leak-resistant options to help protect clothing. Have you used one, and why? Is it for style, self-confidence, or practicality? #stoma

Indiana Jones and The Temple of Doom is both a sequel and a prequel

Amy "Thunderjam" Chase@amythunderjam.bsky.social

We all know the "Viggo broke his toe" story but what's another movie fact you're personally compelled to bring up every time without prompting? For me, it's the fact that Robin Tunney is wearing a wig in The Craft because of having just shaved her head to save her job filming Empire Records.

Few better ways to wake up than to the sound of rain, watching the birds feeding, in a massive-yet-cosy bed. So far seen a waxwing and my first red spotted woodpecker! The bird identification book I’m using can get in the bin though. Needs a hefty update!

Sheesh. No wonder my journalist graduate son can’t find any work, if media companies are phoning it in like this.

I have a true soft spot for The Loadout. It was one of my first major websites to work on. Seeing this prompt left in an article just makes me feel numb

Yeah, but I'm fairly sure the price of heat pumps went up the almost exact price of the subsidy as soon as it was announced. Very suspicious of this type of scheme.

This would be economically illiterate & environmentally disastrous - and makes us less secure: undermining efforts to reduce energy bills by reducing dependence on gas, increasing vulnerability to global dictators, driving climate emissions & knee capping a market that’s just beginning to take off
