Obviously this is racist and gross, but it's also shockingly historically illiterate? No one who has taken a single high school world history course would deny that Arab culture has produced incredible science and literature. This is why we need basic humanities education.

The Bulwark@thebulwark.com

RFK: "There's five hundred million Arabs in the world. And yet they don't produce science. They don't win the Nobel Prize. They don't win the Fields Prize. They don't win the Wolf Prize. They don't produce literature."

This is a man who knowingly took up Nazi rhetoric to gin up the hatred behind an ongoing ethnic cleansing of Haitian refugees from his own state.

Q: Why are you scapegoating immigrants for the issues you're supposed to be solving as the vice president? JD VANCE: To the extent my rhetoric has been imperfect, that's on me

This is just flat out racism. No other way to describe it, and if you see someone trying to do otherwise (looking at you NYT editors) then correct them.

Trump on El-Sayed: "His name is actually Abduladadalalalala. It's Adulbabababababa Mohammed Al-Sayed. So his middle name is Mohammed. So I was right. He's a jihadist."

I can't decide who's worse - people who believe these vile things in their soul or people who pretend they do for proximity to power.

Aaron Rupar@atrupar.com

JD Vance on Angie Nixon: "Get the hell out of here. You don't belong in America"

Austin PD should arrest the ICE agents who fired into the vehicle for attempted murder and update the charges if the victim dies. Horrific. What's stopping municipal departments from enforcing basic laws?

Washington DC isn't going to experience a ground invasion from a foreign adversary.

Kyle Cheney@kyledcheney.bsky.social

President Trump knows that one way to gain advantage in the legal fight over a controversial construction project is to link it to a military need

It's tragic, unacceptable, and unnecessary. Those who can't secure housing quickly accumulate legal troubles (fines, vagrancy/trespassing charges, etc.) that can cost them jobs and eligibility for assistance.

In what context is "Abolish Ice" a radical position? In a context where everyone sees this, and feels confident that this sort of behavior will be punished. In a context where basic accountability systems are in place. An organization that encourages this behavior is impossible to fix.

Video of an ICE agent pulling a gun on a wife and mother, who is a US citizen born and raised in the area, near Bailey's Crossroads in Northern Virginia yesterday. Chillingly, they claimed she “almost ran them over” until she told them she had video proving that was a lie.

We have a growing number of armed and emotionally-unregulated men who genuinely believe they're at war with anyone who crosses their path. This woman's bravery is impressive.

A lot of people who enabled this cruelty are sitting in pews today asking the Lord to forgive their sins, bless their lives, and give them the urges He wants them to have to be good followers of Christ. It's impossible to understand what's in people's hearts and minds.

Genuine question. Why are we hearing so much about the Democratic Socialists of America (DSA). From what I've read, they have 120K members. None of the candidates being described as part of DSA are members, from what I can tell. Are Dems who aren't essentially Reagan Republicans assumed to be DSA? 🤷

I’ve been yelling about it this all year. Municipalities still act like these are unfortunate incidents instead of what they are. They’re attacks on critical infrastructure. We’ve underinvested in modernizing essential systems and infrastructure while degrading cybersecurity.

FLASH: Justice Dept seeks to dismiss Lincoln Memorial Reflecting Pool criminal case against former Olympian David Hearn Trump Admin acknowledges: "Damage to the Lincoln Memorial Reflecting Pool in June 2026 was the result of flawed installation by the contractor"

People need to start getting disbarred for this shit.

The Justice Department is admitting that a $14 million renovation on the Lincoln Memorial Reflecting Pool in Washington, DC, was flawed, and is dropping the criminal case against a former Olympian that accused him of damaging the pool, according to a new court filing. https://cnn.it/3RJJnwj

I will never understand why so many, who are clearly paying close enough attention to know what's unfolding, activity decided to go along with flagrant corruption.

The legacy media sat there while Trump lied about the past elections and "joked" about running again in 2028. They did not boo. They did not walk out. They just sat there and ate their dinner. The journalists in that room will be remembered as the journalists in that room.

You might get sick of hearing this but if he keeps doing it I'm gonna keep saying it: this is an unconstitutional impoundment, violating both Congress' Article I spending authority and the 1974 Impoundment Control act, and immediately impeachable.

Current events have eroded my commitment to decorum to the point I'm swearing in writing in texts and chats with friends. I can tell this is a new thing for me because I'm having to double check when the swears I'm using are one word or two.

This administration is struggling to understand why threats aren't resulting in immediate capitulation. It doesn't occur to any of them that we're all so tired of this nonsense that we don't care about their threats. Threats are white noise at this point. #Literally

CREW@citizensforethics.org

The Constitution gives states, not the federal government, the power to administer elections. That's for a good reason, but the Trump admin keeps trying and failing to grab power anyway. We're fighting back in court.

It’s impossible to move the debate forward when one side is committed to upholding a disinformation-fueled, dehumanizing false reality that leads to the state-sanctioned street killings of innocent people. There are not two sides to this particular story. Full stop.

I can't relate to those who are silent right now.

Prem Thakker ツ@premthakker.bsky.social

Wow. The ICE shooter in Maine asked his ex-wife to "to lie for him and to cover for his character." She said he was abusive and had previously reported concerns about him to his military superiors. He was also a volunteer firefighter, but was removed after several spats with department leadership.

When I see stuff like this, I wonder what we're not supposed to be paying attention to and talking about between now and Thursday.

Aaron Rupar@atrupar.com

Trump on his Thursday speech: "It's really big news. It's really big news. Our country has to shape up. What we're gonna be talking about Thursday -- it doesn't get bigger, because without free and fair elections you don't have a country."

Every. Single. Day. This nation isn't serious about protecting children. Predators are operating under the cover of religion, public service, and other trust influencers while hysteria surrounding immigrants and LGBTQ+ humans grabs the attention.

Fifty Shades of Whey@fiftyshadesofwhey.bsky.social

A pastor in Alabama who is also the son of a former justice on the Alabama Supreme Court was arrested in a child sex sting. James Gorman Houston III, 66, is being charged with the electronic solicitation of a child and for traveling to meet a minor for a sex act.

The number of people unapologetically indifferent to death & suffering is sickening. Every story involves real people. They are humans trying to live modest lives in safe conditions for their families. A nation that spends trillions on war, policing & prisons has turned citizens' hearts to stone.

Aaron Rupar@atrupar.com

Rep. Chuck Fleischmann downplays ICE killing a US resident in Texas: "I wish there was as much concern about the illegal immigrants in this country who have committed horrible heinous crimes ... the radical left caused this"

There are countless examples of this scenario. It's sickening and it persists because predators are shaping and echoing a narrative that diverts attention to vulnerable immigrants, LGBTQ+ humans, and anyone challenging this rot. It's past time to get serious about men who assault, rape, & exploit.

The slandering of education isn't being taken seriously enough. The knowledge and research that touch all of our lives are beyond what we can measure. In additional to all areas of knowledge having value, sometimes you need to master one thing to learn another.

Vance: A lot of the people who are going and getting 4-year degrees, they're not like engineers and doctors. They have fake jobs

Clearly this push has nothing to do with protecting our nation. When a POTUS states "we will win every election for the next 100 years" if the SAVE Act passes, all Americans need to understand "we" isn't a party.

🚨BREAKING: The Trump administration is threatening to hold back terrorism-prevention funding from states unless they comply with a sweeping set of election demands — escalating President Donald Trump’s ongoing attempt to seize power over elections. www.democracydocket.com/news-alerts/...

I can't relate to those who are willing to lie when they know that the lie will harm someone. There is something broken inside those willing to contribute to the arrest, imprisonment, deportation, and even death of another human to score points for their side. Terrible. Gross.

Mark Jacob@markjacob.bsky.social

Is there any doubt that the Trump regime would show us photos or videos of "vandals" attacking the reflecting pool if they had them? And is there any doubt that such a location would have cameras? There's one logical explanation: The regime is defending a stupid lie to soothe the dictator's ego.

How about we stop connecting everything to fighting? Fighting rarely solves anything. Our budgets, slogans, news stories, public policy, etc., are overrun with fighting. Decency asks us to value one another and to work as a community to leave places and others better than we found them. ❤️

Patriotism asks you to fight for values and an ideal. Nationalism asks you to fight for a person or group. There's a difference, and it matters.
