Just saw Wildwood for a second time, and it might be even better the second time, getting to drink in all the details, and appreciate the voice performances further. Just an utter thing of beauty.

Eric Bauza wasn't just an incredible actor. He fought for all of us, for the preservation of art, to see that real art got to shine, even in the face of corporate greed. The importance of him using his platform and his voice for the betterment of art cannot be understated. Goodnight, sir.

RIP Eric Bauza, at just 46. He was the current voice of many of the Looney Tunes, including in the recent Coyote vs. ACME and The Day the Earth Blew Up, and a very prolific voice actor. An immense talent, who will be deeply missed.

Goddammit. He was way too young… rest in peace to a Canadian legend.

If this movie doesn’t make back its profit, it will become a cult classic. Mark my words. But let’s see if we can’t afford it some mainstream success, shall we?

Wildwood is the best animated movie I’ve seen in years. Incredible craftsmanship aside, as is standard for Laika, the story and themes of the film were shockingly mature in a way that didn’t talk down to the viewer. And it was EPIC too. Genuinely had me on the edge of my seat! Highly recommended.

Thinking more about this - AI is also going to be limited by its profitability. As an “art” tool, it sounds too good to be possible - because it is. Interest is drying up, and the ouroboros of billionaires funding AI has limits. Eventually, AI needs to be profitable… which will make it EXPENSIVE.

It’s also not all bad. I’ve had incredible opportunities to travel and see the world, and my castmates have become family to me. This is not me saying “woe is me”; this is me being real, and drawing a line for myself as Alex Rochon the person, not Alex Rochon the “public figure”.

It sucks to feel this way too because, like, I LOVE this job! I love playing Caine, and I love the rush of playing all sorts of new characters, telling their stories, and seeing how people empathize with them. I’ll be okay; I’m too stubborn to quit. Things just need to slow down a bit.

This isn’t even a “haha digital circus fandom bad” thing. In my opinion ALL fandoms are bad because the internet, by design, enables all sorts of zealotry and narcissism. “Fame” affords me a lot; more than most people can say. But also I need to maintain a healthy distance from it.

I love my job. But I don’t know if I can handle another project I’m cast in being as big as Digital Circus again. Sometimes I think I just want to retire out of the spotlight and social media early if I can; being a public figure invites too many vultures, especially when fandom becomes involved.

It’s true - #TADC is coming to Cookie Run Kingdom! With ALL of the original cast reprising their roles! We may not have been in the same room together to record, but from what I remember literally everyone agreed “that was the easiest session I’ve ever done” in terms of locking in/having fun. #CRK

The harder one looks into literally any facet of human society, the more likely it is to find something morally grey or unethical about it. It is literally impossible to be morally “pure” as a human and no one gets through life without hurting others. It just means we do what we can to reduce harm.
