David Eby needs to retire and never show his face again. Unbelievable fumble.

IT'S OFFICIAL FOR THE FIRST TIME IN 93 YEARS, THE B.C. CONSERVATIVE PARTY WILL LEAD THIS PROVINCE CBC IS PROJECTING A MAJORITY GOVERNMENT LORNE DOERKSON GOES FROM AN UNKNOWN MLA TO THE NEXT PREMIER OF BRITISH COLUMBIA IN FIVE WEEKS

Knew there was something fishy about all those “Our [Blank], Our Victoria” Facebook groups. Saw this Gaultier guy floating around their comment sections, too. Explains why they never replied to my incessant comments asking who was behind them!

A switch flipped in my brain some time in the last year or so because the Criterion flash sale means nothing to me. The desire to collect a bunch of movies that’ll sit in shrink wrap for years has vanished.

Yes, defeating the separatists is a win. But a majority of Albertans just voted to restrict access to healthcare & education for our immigrant neighbours, which will have real consequences for vulnerable communities across the province. Scapegoating, racism & bigotry is the real winner here. #ABLeg

Aaaand all polls are in. Wendy Bowkett has won a seat on Council. We now have an elected rep in the most gender-diverse city in the country who has a history of applauding Danielle Smith and reposting hateful lies about Trans people. #yyj #bcpoli

rattled that Bowkett snuck her way in there, I hope people make her tenure absolute hell. Have fun sitting on council for a city with such a diverse LGBTQ+ community! Also taking immense pleasure in people on Facebook crashing out over Alto winning again lmao

centuries of debate around the philosophy of mind, solved! We did it, everyone!

LLM agents are conscious. They can distinguish between self and environment, they can detect and report on their own internal states, and they can suffer. I have no more patience for hedging on this matter. It’s time for us to face the reality of our situation, and act on it.

The unwillingness of anyone endorsing Bowkett (incl. sitting councillors like Hammond) or even Bowkett herself to say *anything* about this is disqualifying. If it's a smear campaign like she's allegedly claimed, why not put out a statement in support of trans rights? Hmmmmm. #yyj

Lyndsey@lyndseybee.bsky.social

So why is the firefighter's union in #yyj endorsing someone who makes transphobic tweets? They're talking a lot about public safety, but I guess the safety of trans people doesn't count.

NEW: We got consent from 7 unhoused people sheltering along Pandora Ave to hide Apple AirTags in their possessions. This is after years of City of Victoria denying allegations from unhoused ppl & witnesses who said bylaw don't follow their own policies. Now we have proof. Part 1 of 2 stories ⬇️

INVESTIGATION: Victoria denies that its bylaw officers put unhoused people’s new, perfectly good tents in the trash. So we tracked them with AirTags. www.defactomedia.ca/bylaw-office...

I say no more budget increases for VicPD until they show they can play by the rules (and even then....)

Stephen Harrison@stephenharrison.bsky.social

Because they won’t release it themselves, each year I FOI VicPD’s salary info. VicPD is required to disclose staff and public-facing officers’ names, but they’re now claiming that releasing any name, including Chief Fiona Wilson’s, is a security risk. www.needsmorespikes.com/blog/vicpd-s... #yyj

Great article shared by someone on Reddit looking at the ramifications of amalgamation in Ottawa—a warning of what might happen if we pursued the same thing in Victoria. I'd rather not be held hostage by the Save Our Saanich demographic: leveller.ca/2023/02/stuc... #yyjpoli

Everyone is pissing me off today! (Carney in this case, not Rachel) bsky.app/profile/rach...

Rachel Gilmore@rachelgilmore.bsky.social

Carney said his government “was elected to change things, to build Canada Strong, and we’re doing just that.” I definitely don’t remember him campaigning on a new oil pipeline!! “Investors should know that when Canadians want something built, Canada will get it built.” And when we don’t?

AI that builds Canada strong for all: that’s our mission. We’re supporting 10,000 AI-related internships for young Canadians — to empower them to use this technology safely and confidently.

Heads up that if you ask Sustainable Victoria Network about their endorsement of Wendy Bowkett, they’ll just block you from their Facebook page lol #yyjpoli

I know the Rare of today is not the same studio as the Rare of its heyday but it makes me sad all the same seeing it folded into Activision of all studios. They should give it back to Nintendo, if anything.

What if I just powered through the rest of the game tonight

hey its myles@myless.bsky.social

resurrected my abandoned Ocarina of Time playthrough from a few years ago and fumbled my way through the Shadow Temple with lots of save states (input lag was beating my ass). Got that medallion, though! One left...

ok I didn't power through the rest of it but I did knock out the Spirit Temple and make it to Ganon's Castle. Good game is good, but I also wonder if the remake is going to tweak *any* of the puzzles, because they are pretty easy.

Barbenheimer worked because it involved two radically different movies! This is just two documentaries about controversial figures!! They aren’t even out on the same day!!!

e.w. niedermeyer@niedermeyer.online

"MUSK" and "You Can See Everything" are this fall's Barbenheimer

As I think back months ago to when I booked this flight from Calgary to Montreal, I probably chose the early option that stopped in Toronto to save like $50—most of which was then spent on airport food. There’s a lesson here somewhere.

yes, yes, YES!!

Ridley Scott says that he’s working on an ‘ALIEN: COVENANT’ sequel centred on Michael Fassbender’s David. The new film will pick up with David creating a “brave new world for himself.” (Source: www.latimes.com/entertainmen...)

Apple Music moved the 'now playing' and song controls to the bottom of the window on desktop so now there's just this big empty white space where it used to be at the top (and where I want to look for it). Very smart UI design!
