Thank God today is election day I am so sick of every ad being like “TORONTO IS SIX SECONDS AWAY FROM SPONTANEOUS COMBUSTION!!! VOTE SKUNKFUCKER McSHITTYPANTS BEFORE IT’S TOO LATE!!!” Of course we think everything sucks if the TV keeps yelling at us!

There is so much more empathy in the world than there used to be, even if you don’t believe me rn. When I was in grade school boys snapped girls’ bras and nobody did shit. Same with swastikas, etc, drawn on lockers and textbooks. It’s a joke, bro. What’s the big deal?

Social media loves talking about how everything is getting worse. But what’s something that you’ve seen get _better_ in your lifetime?

I liked school, but there was only one way through it and all my failings were me not trying hard enough. Today, they’d take one look at my 4-year-old loner ass playing intently with the Fischer Price record player and say “oh shit, this bitch autistic” and find better ways to teach me than threats.

We know so, so, SO much more about animal intelligence than when I was a kid, and as a lifelong animal lover that means a lot. Dolphins and whales and apes were “smart,” but nobody dreamed of discovering shit like “cuttlefish might be highly sentient.”

Kids are allowed to be weird. This is something I talk about on Blood God this week (PLUG), but I notice kids aren’t told to sit down and shut up or smacked around for being weird nearly as much as they were when I was a kid. There is no universe where I would’ve gotten my ADHD diagnosis as a kid.

It’s crazy how quickly you become invisible when you’re a menopausal woman. On one hand, it says a lot about society. On the other hand, I’m free to be an androgynous weirdo who goes around town with a saxophone slung across her back because nobody feels threatened by me.

Yeah we take Chrono Trigger’s 3D sound for granted nowadays but you need to understand this soundtrack was composed during a time when most people still had shitty mono sound coming out of their TV speakers (and the SNES had no headphone jack!).

Listening to this with headphomes on for the first time back then was a life altering experience.

Gonna play an old favourite at the top of the hour!!

Saturday night's alright for... biting? Not on @nadiaoxford.bsky.social & @lbdnytetrayn.bsky.social 's watch! Return with them to the shadows of the Hell House as they continue where they left off in Castlevania II: Simon's Quest! The Halloween Marathon rolls on at 6pm EST on twitch.tv/Nyteworks!

Playing this for the very first time in the late summer of ‘95 was as incredible as you can imagine.

From a world of ice to lush green through Corridors of Time <3 Still one of the most magical moments I've ever experienced in a video game. Been a long time since I last reached this far into CT. When this fired up in my first playthrough in ZSNES, I'm sure I just stood and soaked it for a while.

The shuttering of BioWare is a tragic loss to the RPG community. Baldur's Gate 2, Mass Effect, and KOTOR were all on our Top 25 RPGS of All Time list. Let’s take this time to celebrate the people who made these impactful games. Our Mass Effect Pantheon episode 🔓: www.patreon.com/bloodgodpod/...

It’s funny seeing American outlets reporting on the NDP. But this speaks to the larger issue of gov’t rarely acknowledging 🇨🇦 games despite how huge they are. Before Avi Lewis’ BioWare comments, the last time one of our major party leaders did something similar was Trudeau with Cuphead in *2017.*

“You’re not confused. I told you your brother had been killed. Yet here he stands in the shadow of the man you came here to destroy. “You came here for vengence. You came here to save mankind. And you see now, you cannot do both.”

They don't teach us much about the US Founding Fathers in Canada school, but I get the impression Ben Franklin is the Dionysus of the American Pantheon. i.e. The Cool One.

Philip Bump@pbump.com

Even if this were viable as a concept (that there's an afterlife; that it allows conversations with others; that enslavers are going the same place as you), who cares? Oh, are you mad at me, Ben Franklin? Tough shit.

My olfactory senses are hyper specific in the most useless way, like I can tell someone who rode this bus a little while ago was wearing the same cologne my dad was wearing when I played Master of Orion 2 in 1997. Like, what? Why??

If anyone in Canada has been affected by the EA/Bioware announcement and would like to talk about it, email's in my profile. Can discuss on the record/on background etc.

It sucks that Boomers are going to their graves baffled about why our generation didn’t have babies because they will never acknowledge the simple truth that they chose scorn over support. My mom still doesn’t get why kicking me out of the house the second I got married didn’t get her grandkids.

Let me at least finish school, mother! “WE weren’t ready! Nobody is ready!” Yeah losing a house and a car to the bank is just one of those childhood things, nbd. “I won’t give you financial support, but I WILL nag you!” Bold move Cotton let’s see if it worked out for you. [checks] Nope.

And she doesn’t believe me when I say I WANTED kids. We would’ve been good parents! But there was zero indication that raising them would’ve been anything but agony.

I’m thrilled to announce Final Fantasy Resonance is terrific, and devastated to announce Vaan is one of the most useful visions in the game. Thanks to GI for letting me review it! ❤️❤️❤️

It may have one foot planted in the series' history, but in a time when mainline Final Fantasy is still figuring itself out, Final Fantasy Resonance is easy to recommend. Our review: gameinformer.com/review/final...

The problem with insisting Jews are “biologically Polish,” outside of utterly ignoring Jews not of European descent, is that my great-grandfather rode a train to Auchwitz full of Hungarians declaring they were Hungarians first, not Jews, and their government was sending them to work, not get gassed.

GUESS WHAT HAPPENED???? Do people know that Europeans despised Jews for being without a country of their own? That it’s one of the reasons for Hitler’s push? That, again, Zionist Jews are wrong but their insanity is not without explanation? (He smuggled wire cutters on the train & jumped btw)

Y’all also have to stop using “Ashkenazi” (or “AshkeNAZI!!” lololol any excuse to call Jews Nazis) and “white Jews” interchangeably. The black and Filipino Ashkenazi Jews in my neighbourhood would not appreciate it. (You assume Europeans are all white, too ig?)

Any other stats we should know before we place our bets?

We’ve started the process of getting me onto an operating table for the purpose of removing my BSOD’ing gallbladder, but there’s always a chance it’ll utterly crash out and send me into emergency surgery first. This is the shit FanDuel SHOULD be offering odds on.

Nothing gets me big mad faster than seeing people here, people who should know better, decide someone’s gender for them. If Arin, Shen, or whoever is trans, we’ll know it when they say “Hi, I’m trans.” Until then, mind your beeswax and for God’s sake stop calling them “she” unless they give the OK.

I had to sit with my identity for 40 years before I settled on genderqueer. Some people don’t want to give me and people like me the credit that I sat with my own inner feelings, I repeat, my own feelings for decades and weighed every label and consideration. It’s a personal journey. Remember?
