Even if this were viable as a concept (that there's an afterlife; that it allows conversations with others; that enslavers are going the same place as you), who cares? Oh, are you mad at me, Ben Franklin? Tough shit.

God was real big on nation states in the Bible. That's what the whole King of King things was about, religious supplication to your political leaders before you worry about God. Right?

Okay but also Vivek is Hindu. So the "afterlife" is not heaven, it's reincarnation. So for all he knows, Amy Acton is the reincarnation of Ben Franklin.

Too reductive. "Afterlife" CAN be reincarnation, it can also be heaven / hell (and there are multiple tiers of these), or even complete extinction without anything after the death. Depends on which particular track, if any, that he subscribes to. All this = there are MANY options he could face !

We sacrificed for comity, Vivek. Oh, we longed to throttle you and shout at you what an ass you are, yet we restrain ourselves, all in the name of comity.

I've never apologized for a pedophile or stole from my country. I was also a loyal and loving husband, supported my kids without judgment, and never resented another person's success. If that isn't enough for the cover charge of wherever the fuck I'm going, I have no interest in being there.

Well I considered getting vaccinated against COVID, but then I got nervous about possible long term side effects and I've never liked needles, so...

Ben Franklin snatching your iPhone: "Thats quite enough! I must adjourn, there are hot singles in our area!"

Tom Paine would kick every MAGA ass that came through the gate. (He would be over the surprise of Heaven existing by now.) (I don’t care if he’s not on the official list: he’s a founding father to me!)

JOHN ADAMS: What did you do to serve your country?! ME (to Jesus): Are they always like this? JESUS: (rolls eyes) Every single one of them.

Well, if you really wanna get technical about it from a Christian point of view (since that's what this supposed HINDU is claiming here) Vivek is gonna have A LOT more to be judged for than even his recent reprehensible activities, although that's more than worthy of the Hellfire by itself.

Right?! This notion that the founding fathers were and still are the smartest people to ever walk the earth and all the principles they employed back then still apply to today's society, drives me nuts.

If Ramaswamy faces the founding fathers in the afterlife, my guess is that it will take them a good long time to even understand what Ramaswamy did with his recent attack ad. And then they'll beat him with a sock full of nickels.

In what reality do I die, go to the other side, meet the founding fathers and not whoop their asses??? Answers? Bitch, it’s actually on sight.

In the most encyclopedic picture ever of the afterlife, a living person (Dante) gets to berate a denizen of Hell (the emperor Constantine) for having conferred temporal authority over Italy on the Papacy. So if your text is the Divine Comedy, it works the other way around.

It's technically not the type of afterlife conservative Christian constituents believe in either. Even though you're judged in the afterlife, it's only supposed to be God that does the judging. This appears to be some American technocrat afterlife where you're judged by the former rich elites.

Somehow I don't think the Founders would be pleased when Vivek answers that he sacrificed the constitutional order they built to enable the despotism and corruption they expressly wanted to prevent.

Hindus believe in reincarnation. So the question is: when Vivek is reincarnated, will it be as a cockroach, or is that his current manifestation?

When you're so bad at human interactions that you attack a twelve-year-old rape victim as a liar--and let's be clear, that's what he's doing, this was documented when she was twelve--and then you say something like this to salvage your pathetic campaign, you deserve to live and die alone.

In Vivik's conception of heaven the slaveholders still hold dominion over the masses. Why else would we have to answer to them. Wouldn't that make us ... subjects and slaves?

Ben Franklin would probably be a fan and try his hand at creating some hentai. After all, he has decades of real life international brothel customer experience to draw from.

These idiots REALLLLLY need to study actual history and not the Christ-washed bullshit that evangelicals have falsely peddled for years. The idea that any of the founders would give a shit is laughable, as is that they would even believe in an afterlife (especially Franklin and Jefferson) #Deism

I wouldn't be surprised if I found out that he actually voted for Acton and the did all this just to be a disruptive pain in the ass to push voters her way.

On just a moment's thought, I wonder if, in an afterlife where the earlier and later generations mix, conservatives are people who think they won't measure up to their ancestors, and liberals are people who know they won't measure up to their descendants.

This post is running through my head constantly, so I guess I’m interested

ME: So yeah, the Post Office ran great for a long time until this one political faction realized having a wildly successful and popular government agency undermined their goal of hollowing out all Federal agencies. Sorry about that. BEN FRANKLIN: Yes, yes. So this service is only for fans, you say?

Being judged by a bunch of old white men who lived several hundred years before me in the afterlife sounds like hell. On the other hand, I don't think they'd want to encounter anyone who educated themselves on American history—they'd have a metric shit-ton to answer for.

"... they'd have a metric shit-ton to answer for." 💯 for specifying the units AND for choosing the metric system for it. 👍✊👏💙

Wasn't Ben Franklin by and large one of the more chill, anti-racist types in the room? He was friends with Graham Sharp, and I'm pretty sure Thomas Paine too.

I'd like to think that after two hundred years in the afterlife a smart guy like him has listened to some people who came after him and is quite embarrassed by a lot of his premortuary views.

Surely this is the same kind of "dual loyalties" that these guys love to complain about? Who are you actually accountable to in the after life, your Maker or a random 17th century dude?

The very same. And, here's more shocking news for you: There Are People Who Will Vote For Him !!! "NURSE ! Need help with this here Timmy who has gone into shock !"

We're in an eternal paradise but there is still somehow a strict heirarchy and James Madison is gonna reprimand me for caring about pronouns

Ok Mr Jefferson. Well, to start, I didn't enslave anyone, dodge a war for a cause I believed in & which nearly all my peers willingly served in, OR die with an unserviceable amount of "lifestyle" debt. How bout you?

I’m anxious as Ben Franklin approaches me in Heaven, then he says, “my brother, you should hit this jam,” and holds out a large joint. “This is truly a place of happiness and pleasures. All earthly burdens have been lifted.” And I am disappointed because I rehearsed just like Vivek warned I should.

Self-governance means we get to decide how to govern ourselves - we are not Founders-bound. The only people making decisions right now are the living (Jefferson wrote to Madison about this very topic...).

Love the infantile belief that a panel of Founding Fathers is awaiting us in the afterlife and judging us on our time on earth. Worthy of an Albert Brooks movie.

Think this concept is more up Mel Brooks’ alley but get your point. Would totally fit as a segment in History of the World: Part I 1981.

One of my favorite retorts to this sort of thing: Them: What would the Founding FAthers say if they could see America, today?! Me: (deadpan) Oh, my god! What's that in the sky?!

Even by Vivek's own "standards" this is preposterous: "Mr. Washington, Mr. Jefferson, sirs, I did my duty and voted for a bigoted game show host / convicted rapist / cult leader with a bad spray tan, who has a grown woman follow him around with a diaper bag, sirs!" [salutes weakly, grins sheepishly]

Was going to say that you're telling on yourself if you think you're gonna be hanging out with Thomas Jefferson in the hereafter.

Pretty sure the founding fathers would say, “Are you kidding? Of course the Constitution should evolve and not be held to our knowledge and standards of 250 years ago, when a gun could fire once every 30 seconds and wild bison roamed Pennsylvania”

I guess the premise is that they’d be very irritating? I wonder if you would be able to float across to the other side of the cloud? Fortunately, where Ramaswamy is going, the conversations are gonna be very unpleasant no matter who they’re with because of the insufferable both scolding & scalding.

Thats always been my attitude. If there is an afterlife (highly dubious), who really actually gives a shit what we did if we all ended up in exactly the same spot? It’s why I always praise my fellow atheists. We do the right thing because it’s the right thing, without any fear of divine retribution.

Oh wow. Thomas Jefferson! Andrew Jackson? Andrew...Johnson? Robert e Lee... Is this the Bad Place? Am I in the Bad Place right now? Architect: Yeah, pretty obvious when you think about it. Plan B. [Two headed bear with a penis flattener smashes down the door while belching anus seeking bees]

What Christian offshoot is he a member of that would even consider believers upon their death answering to anyone but their God? I have some guesses but I don't want to sound stupid.

He's Hindu by birth (even that is a tenuous thing to say). Beyond that, it's not clear. He doesn't seem to talk about "his faith", for SOME reason.
