My three player asynchronous journaling game about three witches cursed to share one body - We Three Shall Meet Again - is getting an actual play / novella release this December. @notwritinggames.bsky.social, @napel.itch.io and I essentially co-wrote a novella, and the audio book is coming soon.

No joke. I think this is the most important video I have ever seen about mobile games. This guy breaks down how this game psychologically profiles you, and makes the game harder or easier in order to show you ads

Today is my 40th birthday, I have a humble request. If you've enjoyed my work: my games, my writing, hell even my shitposting, let me know? Alternatively, tell someone about my work! Share my itch page or my patreon. I don't advertise, word of mouth is all I got. Thank you. <3

JRR Tolkien: You paint that picture of the key scene from the Two Towers where Frodo and Sam fight Gollum? Donato Giancola: Sure did, Ron, real fuckin' sexy just like you asked. JRRT: What.

Why didn't these kinds of moves— Pick 3, pick 2, pick 1 Pick 2, pick 1, pick none Exceptional success, success, compromise — become "how PbtA works"? Like I say, I think it's obvious why, but choosing one move to be "how PbtA works" at all was the first mistake.

Imagine looking at the media landscape—music, books, movies—and concluding that it would be better if it were all simply infinite reflections of yourself, if you never had to be exposed to another personality, another experience, another life. Just you, you, you. Sounds fucking horrifying.

RedCat, Pokémon, Def Jam, and Portal mark very specific times of my life, like some media can do (like Fullmetal Alchemist and House MD, for me). Me and my partner played through Obra Dinn together while we were falling in love, so that excellent game also has a very special place for me.

God. Citizen Sleeper. It made me cry. It felt made for me in a very specific way and in ways that I could've never predicted. And Big Walk, well. Big Walk is like a flower crown placed on top of my time in the online role-playing community. The people I've met and have gotten to know. ❤️

That Paper Mario game is just so full of interesting, fun, smart stuff. We were a detective household, so the send up of Agatha Christie really hit the spot, and I also remember the wrestling saga fondly. O! And the challenging last boss fight that was about as Final Fantasy as I will ever handle.

I've been talking about play style preferences lately, but there's another aspect of table culture that I think is a key determining factor on whether a gaming table stays together. Whether you're playing Cairn, Mothership, or Vampire. widdershinswanderings.bearblog.dev/ttrpg-table-...

widdershinswanderings.bearblog.devTTRPG Table AlignmentsA blog post where I compare a Tabletop Roleplaying Game session to having a communal meal, and why its important for everyone's expectations to be aligned.

This might be my favorite graph of all time. I've thought about getting it tattood. What can I tell you? I love my bike.
