Three different games and therefore three different contexts but here's Bentancur, Tonali and Fernandes each playing in Spurs' deepest midfield role this season.

We know that Spurs, as a De Zerbi team, want to bait the opposition's pressure and attack the space in behind but they've actually spent the most time (total & relative) facing a low-block (defined as oppo. CMs in their own defensive third). Insights powered by MyGamePlan

This is one of the best football conversations I’ve ever heard. Two supremely informed people talking about tactics, philosophy, and the nature of the sport

Similarly, perhaps, there's an (unfair) narrative about Kane in semis/finals that could be effecting his performances in them truly. What I mean to say is that Harry Kane, as an example, is highly susceptible to taking on both a winning and a losing mentality

When Jermain Defoe told Harry Kane that he's more likely to score a goal if he just missed the last one (statistically false) he believed it, it stuck with him and I think it still helps him to this day.

When Harry Kane (due to team form, injury etc.) went a couple of Augusts without scoring and there became a narrative about it. That narrative, I believe, significantly impacted his performances in following Augusts.

S11E10 Two Paths For Tottenham @nathanaclark.bsky.social, @barditei.bsky.social and @windycoys.bsky.social discuss the two different paths to reaction post-Newcastle, as well as deep diving into Tottenham's last minute transfer business. theextrainch.co.uk #COYS #THFC #Spurs

1. The Richarlison and Ndiaye deals are absolutely, completely separate deals, separate negotiations and Definitely Not a player swap. 2. One falling through means the other can't happen.

vs Brentford and Newcastle. Some nice moves and decent spells but 0 points. In a league and with a playstyle where control isn't really an option, how do Spurs become consistent across 90 minutes? Yes fitness and personnel but...

... also a whole bunch of coaching work on minor details. Details in the parts of the game that, historically, De Zerbi hasn't shown that much interest in. Settled defence, advanced possession, set piece defence, etc

sorry

there are at least two kinds of podcasts: one that is meant to simulate getting a chance to have an in-depth conversation with an expert on something and another meant to simulate the experience of having witty, interesting friends. I have an irrational hatred for ones that try to split the middle
