Can confirm Anthony Edwards will miss some time (believed to be 6-8 weeks) after an arthroscopic procedure on his right knee. Wolves believe they have the depth to stay on the winning side during Edwards' absence and see this as the most opportune time to address the issue

Wolves crowd is great tonight. Loving the energy in the building. Wish there were more howls. I feel like the awooos could be used every 10 seconds honestly. Love an awoo

Lol. Ant seriously can't get anything to fall tonight and it's getting a little crazy that everrrrything is missing. He looked over at Chris Finch after the last possession and Finch just shrugged and said, "I don't know." That really is exactly how it feels. Team still playing well

Literally?? So Darius...where is Keaton's butt now? Once it came off, where did he put it?

Darius Garland on what he’s seen out of Keaton Wagler: “He’s been working his butt off, literally. He’s been in the gym every day and just his confidence is just growing out the roof. ... His confidence is sky high right now. We’ve seen it today and it was really good.”

Can confirm that the Timberwolves and Jaden McDaniels have come to an agreement on a one-year, $40 million extension. Now he'll be under contract through the 2029-2030 season.

I love when announcers have truly nothing to say about players. Just exclaiming where they went to college like it's the most interesting thing in the world because it's the only thing they can say lol. No notes!

If I had given it any thought at all...a Saturday game in Miami in the preseason with two days off before...Really should have known that there were gonna be some guys that didn't play in this one.

I did a mini intro on the live blog of the first preseason game and also on Rand's podcast. But a more official intro and a Q&A are coming very soon! I only had a few days before I needed to get to Minnesota, find a place to live and all sorts of other life things, still in a basically empty house

Maybe I missed it but why hasn't rhe @startribune.com made an introduction of you as our new beat writer? (I don't think I missed it).

I'm not suuuuper complaining...just complaining a little bit. Anyway, tonight's live blog of the game is up and underway:

startribune.comLive: Timberwolves, Heat both rest starters in preseason matchupTimberwolves Anthony Edwards, LaMelo Ball and the Heat’s Giannis Antetokounmpo are all sitting out this third preseason game.

Wolves people, please correct me if I'm wrong. When watching on DAZN are you forced to watch the Heat broadcast tonight? Is there a way to change to local broadcast that I can't figure out. I seem to remember that it was the same the last couple games...at least for me lol

Real money from people who have subscribed (at least fans) kinda feels like a good enough reason to have a local broadcast

It is so weird to see the Gobert and Cody Williams experience playing out on social for a different fan base. Years into Gobert's time is where I came on the scene in Utah, so basically seeing the fans at the exact same spot here. And...

The drop off in defense when Rudy isn't on the court, the weird arm flailing, the prayers that he stops dribbling lol. And they're seeing the defense and open court dunks from Cody which has them thinking something is there. I've BEEN HERE BEFORE

Seems timely to remind people (in light of Nurk having to miss time) that Jaxson Hayes was on video pushing and spitting at his partner with her yelling about not feeling safe and the NBA has seemingly not ever handed down any consequences. Feel bad for Jazz fans who will have to cheer for that.

Right now, in preseason game 2, the drop-off from starters to bench feels really steep for the Wolves. Obviously things are going to change and look different, but it's how it feels right now

Statement from the Trail Blazers in response to Braiden Bell's lawyer publicly asking for his reinstatement as play-by-play broadcaster: "We stand by our statement issued last week and have no further comment at this time. We wish Mr. Bell the best."

There is A LOT of context to the fact that Cody Williams had a "good" second half of the season last year. I'm a big believer in his defensive game...but there are question marks all over the other side.

Point of clarification: If the Ariel Hukporti injury is worst case scenario, and even if Sixers get a Disabled Player Exception as a result, they still would not be able to exceed the first apron, which is a hard cap b/c they used the full, non-tax MLE. DPE does not clear space under the hard cap.

Ryan Rollins bleeding from the face, Ariel Hukporti looks like he's gonna be out for a while (was that an Achilles?? on day one???), and John Collins trying to choke Dillon Brooks. NBA preseason is so weird.

Can’t wait for Wolves fans to find out how big of a nerd I am. My draft obsession, going down late-night spirals on stuff like pin downs and stutter steps per player, the disconnect between Rudy’s shoulders and hands.

I’d like to apologize to the people of the Northeast Minneapolis. I’m sorry you weren’t dedicated trainers and that failed against us. Was that your home gym? Oh well. Sorry, not sorry.
