A retail divorce story: Abercrombie and Fitch turned into Abercrombie or Fitch, finally becoming Abercrombie not Fitch once the separation was complete

@greatesttrek.com Hi! Quick question for you - are you doing a release of live show videos like last year? Last year's holidays were tough, and those shows were a real highlight during a dark time and I've been hoping they'd be back this year :)

Well, I have successfully made it in (and now, thank god, out) of the United States. Idk if/when I will be back—which is sad, because I love US folks. Once again, they did not make it easy. I will explain.

I was supposed to discuss our book *The End of College Football* tonight in Washington, DC. I won't be there because I was denied entry to the United States. They refused to say why; my best guess is some combo of the inauguration, politics, Palestine, and maybe, a new normal.

Hi everyone. I don't post often Today, as I watched the trade war start, I was very anxious. But my day forced me to wait a moment outside. Large, ponderous snowflakes were falling. It was silent. It was a moment of zen. If you can, do go outside today. Breathe some fresh air. It's good.

bull weevils are the root of a weevils

one day you're going to see elon posting "we just cut 200 million dollars going to bull weevil outbreak prevention 😂😂" and then a couple months later the entire midwest will be decimated by the first mass bull weevil outbreak since 1884

Spent my day at jury selection. I ultimately was not selected but it's weird to spend an hour or two occasionally meeting the gaze of an admitted murderer (he wanted to plead to murder in the 2nd degree but the crown atty wouldn't accept the plea and thus the need for trial). Murderer looked bored

@boum.bsky.social Dear Boum, I just wanted to write you a note about how much I enjoyed The Jellyfish. It's touching, well-written, and gorgeously illustrated. Your depiction of Odette's trip to the hospital ophtho's office and getting the pamphlets, without narration, was so moving. Great job :)

#oldworkwednesday 2nd thing I ever painted. No training, no experience. Art teacher I would describe as abusive.

OK. So let's do this #OldWorkWednesday thing. Post something from your early days of making art. Even if you think it's not "good" It's a reminder to new artists that everyone starts at 0. 1 of the first things I ever painted. 1986 ish. A silly thing but you can already see a start of my style.

is following a tutorial actually making art? I do that sometimes but I worry that the final products - even if they ultimately are dissimilar from what's demonstrated - are tainted by unoriginality somehow

I had never painted before and was taking a landscapes painting class with a teacher I didn't get along with. I last 2 classes and then decided I'd be better off elsewhere. This was the first thing I painted by myself, in April of this year

made a painting that was pretty good then decided to add a few small changes and seemingly ruined it and now i am so low that i am in the center of the earth

You are up to date.
