Why are all the techbros fascists? Was it their latent and inherent psychopathic and bigoted tendencies that led them to the top of the technological corporate ladder? Or did they become outwardly fascist because of the [in]discriminate power they gained by accruing obscene wealth and influence?

“Palantir cofounder and CEO Alex Karp states ‘AI will undermine the influence of highly educated, often female voters and give it to working class men. We have feminine energy running our cities and our courts,’ he complained.”

Britons should use money we haven't got to buy food the country doesn't grow, store it in homes that don't exist, in spare rooms that got taxed away, so we can survive when reservoirs nobody built run dry because of a climate the govt won't protect. www.theguardian.com/politics/202...

theguardian.comEvery Briton should stockpile water and food supplies, government advisesBe Ready campaign aims to prepare UK for impact of climate crisis, technological dependency and threats by hostile state

Why isn't the Labour government stockpiling? Or giving people £100 each towards buying three-days' worth of supplies? They're telling us when it comes to the climate crisis: "This is serious! But it doesn't apply to us..."

The problem with propaganda is that it works, e.g. we now have the Jewish leader of a political party being accused of being an antisemite! And some people believe what they hear. The simpler the message, the more effective it is. It's easy to debunk LEAVE EU now, but it was as easy in 2016, too!

Take a moment to remember what we promised Brexit would deliver: a well-funded NHS, less immigration, more jobs, flourishing businesses with no red tape, easy to get on the housing ladder, boom time for farming, fishing and steel industries... I do hope you're enjoying it.

Are these wealth creators the same ones that ‘create’ wealth at everyone else’s expense and then move that wealth offshore or are they the ones that are already living abroad and using the UK as a cash cow ? None of it benefits the UK or the people. It just benefits politicians and their ‘donors’

Chancellor to pitch budget at wealth creators – UK politics live

theguardian.comChancellor to pitch budget at wealth creators – UK politics liveJohn Healey is expected to cut red tape requirements, particularly for smaller businesses Good morning. A week today John Healey, the chancellor, will be doing a media round defending the budget he is presenting on Wednesday next week. Ahead of that, he has given an interview to Patrick Maguire from the Times. As you would expect, there is no real detail in it about the measures he will be presenting to MPs. But the big picture message is very clear – and quite surprising, coming from a chancellor serving a PM who in some respects is steering left compared to his predecessor. Healey says that he wants to be on the side of bloody-minded entrepreneurs who make a profit, he acknowledges that government has made their life harder over the past two years, and he suggests that cutting the ‘cost of living’ for business is just as important as cutting the real cost of living for families. In the quote that gives the Times its splash headline, Healey says: I want to be a chancellor who backs business in Britain making a profit, and those entrepreneurs who, in the end, are the ones who challenge the status quo, come up with innovative ideas and are trying, some of them through sheer bloody-mindedness, to keep going through these sorts of pressures … If you’re not making a profit, you’ve got nothing to put back into the business. And for the people who start up these businesses, the ones who really thrive and grow, they have to make a profit — and they will be much more inclined to put it back into their own business. But we want it to grow here and stay here. If you talk to any of the businesses that have come in and have either had one-to-ones or round tables with me, I have recognised that in recent times there’s been a lot of pressure: employment law, regulation, tax, input costs, supply chains. And so when I talk about the cost of business, and recognising that in the same way as we’re recognising the cost of living pressures, I’m conscious of that as I go into the budget for both businesses and households. [Healey] is expected to use the budget to make significant cuts to regulation on businesses that one senior Treasury source described as “the sludge choking firms”. Reporting requirements are likely to be abolished for many smaller enterprises, The Times understands. Continue reading...

The world must cut emissions by 18% in four years ‘to find our way back’, says the United Nations. Meanwhile, the “window has closed” on holding global temperature rises to 1.5C! What we need is another 'pandemic'; one lasting 23 years. The Covid virus caused the only emissions dip in recent years.

As a GPEW member of 12 years, I've always been proud that the party is democratic; policies are decided by members; and this is via a one-member, one-vote system. We must adhere to the will of the membership, but if unhappy with any policy to submit a motion for change. Ramsey never got that memo...

Hard to see how the UK police cannot arrest Sarah Helm who wrote on X: "God help us authors who support Palestine and Palestine Action" b/c, you know, the law. Hard to see how Jonathan Powell can remain as National Security Advisor if married to a suspected terrorist supporter. So that's fun.

Okay, the ONLY WAY out of this mess is with a CITIZENS' ASSEMBLY; to--once and for all-- decide what's anti-Jewish; what's anti-Zionism; what's anti-Israel; what's terrorism and what's not. And what's legal--and acceptable--non-violent protest or not. This whole manufactured situation is ridiculous!

bbc.co.ukPolice assess Palestine Action post by national security adviser's wifeDowning Street says Sarah Helm, the wife of Jonathan Powell, "does not represent the government in any capacity".

The only situation that allows this to make any sense is "state capture". The UK has been told what to do by Trump, who's been told what to do by Netanyahu via Jared Kushner... Starmer was a shill and Yvette Cooper was his patsy.

I believe successive British governments DID NOT decline to look closely at what was going; BUT they were afraid others WOULD look closely and that theY would be found complicit and corruptly 'on the make'.

Brexit and Russia… “I think you would have to start with Boris Johnson. “The reason why there is still this confusion is there was no public attempt to establish with confidence what actually happened because successive British governments declined to look closely at what was going on.” (Times)

Out this Tuesday [20th], Weber argues that fossil fuel dependency fans the flames of fascism: “Keeping essentials tethered to fossil fuels [leaves] ordinary people exposed to the price volatility of oil and gas that generates the economic insecurity on which authoritarian politics feeds.” 1/2

Economics can either enable the slide toward fascism, or defend affordability, dignity, and democracy. I wrote ANTI-FASCIST ECONOMICS with my baby by my side—a constant reminder that the future should be livable for all. Out in October with Random House.

She pitches a solution: make life’s necessities affordable. That is housing, transport, food, water, energy, healthcare: the stuff humanity depends on. “Fascism is rising from frustration, born out of a crisis of livelihoods,” says Weber. “So, we need to reclaim these essentials now.” 2/2

“The Greens are more extreme than mainstream Palestinian opinion - they’re saying violence is now legitimate.” The Green Party's ‘Zionism is Racism’ motion calls for “the eradication of the Israeli state”, says Jonathan Freedland. “And they’re happy to see that achieved by violence”.

So, a bunch of pacifists are now the violent ones? Freedland is an unqualified idiot and genocide apologist for an apartheid state. His skeleton is like Blackpool rock with the Israeli flag running all the way through the marrow.

I attended the Green Party conference plenary session online this morning. Caroline Lucas, Ellie Chowns and Carla Denyer [in absentia] were against the motion: 'Zionism is racism". I feel the result will be in favour, but we shan't know until the beginning of the next plenary session at 2:45pm.

Whether you agree or not with genocide, it isn't a popularity contest! We do the right thing according to our conscience, in the right time & for the right reason. We stand on the right side of history and we call out a racist, dehumanising, brutalising, murderous, apartheid regime where we see one.

George Monbiot@georgemonbiot.bsky.social

The "Zionism is racism" motion, to be debated at the Green Party conference tomorrow, will not advance the Palestinian cause one inch. But, if adopted, it would marginalise and discredit the party. There are powerful ways to confront the genocide. Toxic gesture politics isn't one of them.

This is a such ridiculous thing for Freedland to say! Such self-importance, and such self-victimisation, as to be off the scale. I'm a GPEW member and we're not "telling Jews what to think" - they're not *that* special. But we are telling *everyone* what WE think.

Wow, that’s some hit job! I hadn’t realised until now how pro-Israel John Crace is; I feel somewhat disappointed… He’s obviously part of the Establishment that’s weaponising antisemitism against the Green Party.

Yeah, that's not sinister at all...!
