Not what is pictured on the tin, actually. Most definitely not.

Yeah, and inference will stay expensive forever.

Anthropic cumulative operating loss since inception is only $12 billion and at their current run rate operating margin they will completely recoup that loss by Q1 27 even if revenue is flat. So much for “these companies will never make money” lmao

@norvid-studies.bsky.social My boomer aged anime watching dadhas milked 160 Nvidia shares this year out of this goddamn kitchen he co-designed. For a total of 4 days of having a 50 crew around the house. Advertising directors love it. Why? Anybody knows?

Thanks to Liang Wenfeng who pushed through open weights LLMs by rejecting, out of hand, US style AI monopolism, I can now use a rtx4090 that was mostly sitting idle* to have a coding agent do some useful work. *due to the relationship between graphical fidelity and budgets

Some notes on MENACE - pirates seem lackluster, need more 12.7mm machineguns - Rogue Army should use artillery like player, otherwise, quite good. - foot mortars really need a buff: sound + accuracy -this little HMG thingy, for perfection's sake should explosively stake itself to the ground.

It does seem that fiction authors, aside from the truly autistic are incredibly attracted to fiction that presents itself as real. From a certain pov, unsurprising. Here the joke is RU haa 30-50% of Ukrainian KIA. According to serving, not retired Ukrainian politicians.

Anthropic released a redacted August 2026 Risk Report, where they say they heavily utilize Mythos 5 and "Model 2" for internal research and engineering. They don't plan to release the latter, said to be a noticeable improvement on Mythos 5 in internal use but not a capability jump like Mythos was.

the defining question of the next 20 years consists of three words: "Aligned to whom?"

what the fuck. Imagine someone unleashing a swarm of ultrafast sol ultras with no guardrails and the objective of: 'Fuck this guy up'

Christ Deepseek v4 flash is scary good for a flash model. I'm impressed. It seems just slightly dumber than Sonnet v 4.6

Been getting not much sleep courtesy of a major neurobiological upset ~ I was playing Shadow Empire and I kept getting governors complaining about low wages in the private sector. I slashed sales/income taxes to nothing. Didn't help. No. You have to do Keynesianism - large public investment.

Don't fall prey to nostalgia, many classic games have been improved upon by new iterations / entirely novel gametypes by B,C, D and E tier (single-man) studios. E.g. Shadow Empire, if it got a writer/3 graphics/sound guys would be >>>> Sid Meier's Alpha Centauri.

When you visit Curonian Spit, you can find a sizable colony of~5000 cormorants. You can immediately see their effects of massive nutrient flow of guano. Flock of birds as the original inspiration (airborne geological formation) for the biogeochemistry by Vladimir Vernadsky. 🧪⚒️ #Geology #Ornithology

Shadow Empire notes. Given the scope of the game and the workforce (1 guy) there are unpolished areas: #1 Some of the events are... man, amateurishly written and inappropriate. This is an event for a relatively orderly meritocratic/free market state with secure property and life rights.

- Each building should have a 'project importance' slider for resource allocation and an indication on how far you want to pursue the buildout. - really needs a 'group strategic move' or 'move together' slider for formations. -ideally, telling them where they need to go, e.g. which city.

black market should generate variable returns / spawn problems. E.g. if the country is in a shit state, weapons go walking. Hidden economy is an already existing stat, too..

@norvid-studies.bsky.social what does the simcluster think about VASCOs? I find it laughable(why'd spysats get spotted) but allegedly a retired astronomer analyzed plates from a defective German telescope and there the artifacts showed the same sort of distortion as known stars, so ???

Greg Egan@gregegansf.bsky.social

This is a great account of the perils of trying to reach statistical conclusions from scans of old astronomical photographic plates, when the noise and artifacts in the data turns out to be very far from uniformly distributed. www.iheart.com/podcast/105-...

I'd be just curious what would happen if you threw that playlist I use at Fable and asked it to determine the user's cooking and dietary preferences.

My first memory of Doom 2 is finding it cleverly hidden in a directory named 'stock' and finding out the hard way why kids aren't supposed to play such games.

there's an entry in the akashic records about this too

The internet: -is a social environment structured to ensure everyone gets their dumbest beliefs validated, no matter how flagrantly those beliefs fly in the face of fact or expertise -has slowly become the main environment for all modern social interaction Consequently society has gone insane
