I can think of other reasons.

Marisa Kabas@marisakabas.bsky.social

The only reason I can think of for this news not being absolutely everywhere is that large media orgs don’t want to be seen as putting their thumbs on the scales a week before election day. And that’s cowardly as shit.

And probably found her using flock.

Clara Jeffery@clarajeffery.bsky.social

They somehow tracked Acton’s birth mom down, found her living in a car with her cats, in a church parking lot, and took her to a video shoot to make vague accusations about her daughter, who she hadn’t seen in 40+ years, being a liar. Borders on elder abuse.

Laying perjury traps is the new black.

Josh Marshall@joshtpm.bsky.social

A lot of dictatorships try to make these kind of arrangements when things go south. Important to remember there are other kinds of criminal, civil and reputational accountability pardons can’t touch. And if you’re pardoned you have no 5th amendment rights.

DJT is one of the worst people in the world and in the top .01 percent of the worst people in the history of the world.

S.E. Danesti@seedanesti.bsky.social

Trump: “If you don't want communists controlling the US Senate, which is between JAIIIIIIT" His brain is f*cking melting on live TV!!!

Completely degenerate and thoroughly corrupt.

jkavanagh.bsky.social@jkavanagh.bsky.social

“People like Vivek and Vance think Trumpism and MAGA is ascendant…the depravity, the malevolence, the viciousness—they think that there’s still a large enough body of people out there that gets kind of flushed out of the woodwork by this kind of thing, to support them, to support Vivek and this ad.”

“Worked” is the word you’re going for.

Angry@angrystaffer.bsky.social

Again: Why does Musk have operational control over any *military grade* version of anything. That’s not how DOD contracts work.

Sigh, no. Like, a year ago believing that whether Israel bombs a tunnel storing weapons in Gaza is the same as bombing a hospital. They’re the same if you’re a hyperonline moron, but not the same in real world.

“May” seems like the wrong word choice here.

Susan McPherson@susanmcp.bsky.social

“Whatever Trump’s worst instincts are, he had those bad instincts in the first term, but in his second term, he’s been able to follow through on them, and his worst instincts may get worse in the next 2 years.” @stevelevitsky.bsky.social in @atrupar.com’s PN: open.substack.com/pub/aaronrup...

I mean this is obviously correct but ffs, what a d-bag. 🙄

Just some random weirdo, boo@justarandomweirdo.bsky.social

Lisa Demuth, I wasn't going to vote in the governor's race this time — a pox on all their houses! — but you just convinced me to grit my teeth and vote blue again with this. Nice work!

The only rule is that you can’t make Trump look bad on TV. Nothing else matters.

The Atlantic@theatlantic.com

Kimberly Guilfoyle’s resignation wasn’t really about the blatant corruption she was accused of during her time as an envoy—it was because she broke Donald Trump’s most important rule, @radiofreetom.bsky.social argues:

It doesn’t raise questions. It’s further evidence of the answers everyone with two brain cells to rub together already knew.

The Tennessee Holler @thetnholler.bsky.social

Trump chief of staff Susie Wiles’ daughter posts a pic at a training camp with a pro-Russian militia in Bosnia that specializes in destabilization… totally normal stuff! “The photo raises Q’s about White House links to the pro-Russian politician”🤔 www.cbsnews.com/news/russia-...

The closest thing Trump has to a redeeming quality is how aggressively he throws his most fervent supporters under the bus.

Aaron Rupar@atrupar.com

Trump campaigns for Ken Paxton in Texas: "He can be a pain in the ass sometimes, I'll be honest. Is he here, by the way? Oh, there he is. I didn't even know if he was here! I don't care."

As was once (or more) said, “you may think you know someone dumber than Donald Trump, but I assure you, you are wrong.”

Aaron Rupar@atrupar.com

Trump on global warming: "That didn't work out because the planet got cooler. In fact, you know the ice that was melting? It right now just set a record. It's the biggest ice cube that's ever been in the history of the world ... they're doing the scam with data centers, by the way."

The hyperonline left is a sewer. They used to mainly be annoying and stupid, but it’s getting worse as tends to happen in attention-seeking overly online communities. See, e.g. the Trumpist right.

brent 🌹🗽@therealbrent.bsky.social

I’ve never been in denial about it but I do think today was the first day I truly realized how much antisemitism is spreading and being normalized in online far-left circles. It’s scary and frightening and is only going to get worse if the left insists it’s not a problem.

China really is going to invade Taiwan.

Garrett M. Graff@vermontgmg.bsky.social

We don’t spend enough time talking about just how WEIRD all these people are. This is just an incredibly weird and insecure thing to say. Imagine any other SecDef ever being this weird and insecure?!

Because everyone (not literally everyone) who lived through it lost all their money. It was scarring in much the same way as the Great Depression. Hard to believe the good times are real after experiencing something like that. Also, too, phones and social media.

It actually is in many contexts. For example, if “their point” requires building a political coalition to bring it to meaningful fruition.

Eugene Vinitsky 🍒@eugenevinitsky.bsky.social

"These people are really annoying and/or weird" is not actually an argument against their point

This is garbage and blatant thievery, but, in general, I think the US government paying for info that informs people about government programs and even who is responsible for them is a good thing.

Mike Levin@mikelevin.org

This week the Trump administration ran a 30-second campaign spot on Fox News and Newsmax, labeled "Paid for by the U.S. Government." This kind of propaganda using taxpayer dollars is unacceptable and very likely illegal.

Seconded.

John Scalzi@scalzi.com

Whatever you do, don't smoke an entire brisket at a job interview, it's a lot of equipment to bring in, it takes a really long time to do it right and those conference rooms have notoriously poor ventilation

There are some people who are just good and cool and who you know want to make things better. What a great idea.

Alexander Clarkson@aphclarkson.bsky.social

That's because the anti-intellectualism of the populists and Far Right is in direct contradiction to the basic foundations of any civilisation

Not much of a masker but saw a LinkedIn today that said a 60 y/o former colleague died after a “brief illness.” Something weird is going around.

AOC is one of a handful of politicians that I genuinely like. As in, she’s smart and thoughtful, diligent, effective, and right a lot of the time. I’m positive she’s ready. Like her, not positive it’s her time.

Nick Field@nickfield.bsky.social

“This country has never elected a female president. Why are we pretending that this is not a factor?” Ocasio-Cortez said with a laugh. “That doesn’t make it impossible, but to act as though it’s not a factor in anything ever is really a form of, like, denialism” www.nytimes.com/2026/09/22/u...

Blocking is effective. I block and get blocked quite a bit and have a better experience because of it.

Aaron Rodericks@aaron.bsky.team

Imagine I published an rule for harassment: User must hit the following threshold to be suspended. a) 3 + replies or quote posts to another person b) Min 1 use of profanity or personal insult towards a target user Within weeks of a rule rolling out, the most frequent harassers shift to mentions...

This was cute: “into a tent for the Mahoning County Democrat Party (MCDP) and was taking cellphone video of Acton.” 🙄

Sounds like Florida deputy of the year.

404 Media@404media.co

The 43-page investigation found Michael Fultz - posed for pictures as Adolf Hitler - used racial slurs in texts - took pictures of his ex-girlfriend with his service weapon in her mouth during sex - repeatedly broke the law to generate clout online - and used Flock to stalk his ex-girlfriend

“as if” …cute.

Don Moynihan@donmoyn.bsky.social

Re-upping this piece, substantially revised to include new reporting on the neutering of Inspectors General. A former IG said: “All the adults have left the room. All these new IGs are lining up behind political leadership as if they’re lapdogs.” donmoynihan.substack.com/p/governing-...
