That’s a wrap! 200 more of my family medicine patients up to date with their Covid-19 vaccine boosters and annual flu shots, with the help of wonderful medical students at our Jabapalooza. Also happy to say that I’m now boosted! Have a peaceful weekend. Shabbat shalom.

We’re back with a Jabapalooza clinic to give our patients their Covid-19 and flu vaccine boosters. Before you ask, yes, there is still Covid-19 in the community. Visiting a patient who just underwent cardiac surgery, there was an outbreak in hospital (see the sign below). Vaccines save lives.

2 day old here this morning, the loveliest way to end the week. Infant had her RSV vaccine at birth. Gave her mum a booster of the Covid-19 vaccine and a flu shot. Friendly reminder to get your Covid-19 and flu shots this autumn (and RSV vaccines for infants/seniors who haven’t had one). 💉

Preorders available now for my upcoming book HER BODY, HER CURE! I wrote about the history & politics of wellness culture from its origins in the 1800s to its latest far right incarnation post-2020. Alt-health/wellness is not just academic for me, it’s highly personal. 🧵 utppublishing.com/do...

That’s a wrap - five weeks of working without my staff. This is what a tired family doc looks like (after taking off my mask). Understaffed and overworked is the norm in family medicine, but thankfully I’ll have my wonderful staff back on Monday! Have a peaceful, healthy weekend. Shabbat shalom.

Happy to share a new painting of my office, painted by a local artist, Leo KD, who was in the same daycare as our eldest when they were children. Now, as a fun way to start Sukkot, we’re heading to Halifax to visit our child at Dal law school. Have a peaceful weekend. Shabbat shalom & chag sameach.

When you think about what happened in Belleville, the connection between antisemitism and antivaxx radicalization shouldn’t be news to anyone. As a Jewish doctor who vaccinated Canadians, I received hundreds of vile threats between 2021-2024. Including that I’d be shot. Jew hate is shrugged off.

Our daughter was two when we got our cottage. Yesterday we ended our summer there and tomorrow she heads off to university, leaving us with an empty nest. A close friend said to me, “It isn’t goodbye my dears, it is see you later.” She’s right. And our porch light will always be on for our children.

Meanwhile in Canada, look closely, there is a hummingbird at the feeder. (And we are paying more attention to what is beautiful here than to the juvenile antics south of our border). 🇨🇦 Have a peaceful weekend, everyone. Shabbat shalom.

As the end of summer approaches, we’ve seen our middle child off to Law school and we are relishing every moment with our youngest before she heads off to start undergrad. Parenting feels like it moves in slow motion when they are babes in arms. I wish there were a way to throttle the speed now.

Physician here (words of wisdom from Canada): Get your MMR vaccines. Safe and effective. The US has seen more cases of measles in the last 2 years than the total between 2000-2024. That is what happens when a country is led by anti-vaccine, anti-science scoundrels and spreaders of disinformation.

Something happy to start your day: The whippoorwill has returned to our cottage. Turn on volume and you’ll hear its evening call, “whippoorwill, whippoorwill, whippoorwill.” It always sings in the tall grass just outside the window with the stained glass butterfly.
