Preorders available now for my upcoming book HER BODY, HER CURE! I wrote about the history & politics of wellness culture from its origins in the 1800s to its latest far right incarnation post-2020. Alt-health/wellness is not just academic for me, it’s highly personal. 🧡 utppublishing.com/do...

These AI parenting stories are just about replacing nannies. This is a story about some mundane but invisible work a nanny would end up doing if the parents felt it was beneath them. They're trying to convince each other that paying a woman to parent your kids is unnecessary because AI will do it.

Anyways, what I’ve gathered from the case is that they were hitting him with professionalism stuff for his refusal to stop tweeting but once he vague posted about vengeance or something they terminated him for threats. Unbelievable L they were letting him slide until then , he will not see Valhalla.

When you’re absolutely gonna win your pro se case against a medical school

Since 2016, London’s cycling network has grown fivefold, from 90 to 450 kilometres. The results? 1.5 million daily cycle journeysβ€”a 43% increase since 2019β€”twice as many bikes as cars on City of London streets during the day, and motor traffic in steady declineβ€”having fallen 25% in the same period.

So this type of thing was a major motivator for me to go no contact. The realization when I had my first kid that my mom's inability to understand boundaries extended to my baby and any health decisions I made (esp vaccines). The parental alienation moral panic typically skips over stuff like this.

This post is unavailable.

But the so-called "choice" to go no contact is often a last ditch effort to protect vulnerable ppl from an abusive parent/grandparent. The attempt to portray it as a snap decision really pisses me off for this reason. It's often the opposite: a long deliberated step taken when all else has failed.

@michaelhobbes.bsky.social Idk if you're planning to cover the parental alienation moral panic on @maintenancephase.bsky.social someday, but you may be interested in my upcoming book, which delves into wellness culture and gives a background on how I went no contact with my virulently anti-vax mom.

In med school one of our ethics scenarios was a parent bringing a teen girl in for a hymen check to ensure virginity. The student is meant to understand that this is a violation of the patient's bodily autonomy and privacy. This is no different. Another culturally mediated excuse to violate girls.

Doctors and nurses are voicing their objections. I-638 would require EVERY girl who wants to participate in sports to go through biological sex verification. That means expensive, invasive, and utterly gross examinations. Protect our kids and let them play. Vote NO on I-638

OMG, make it stop❗ πŸ›‘ Longevity medicine is NOT "gaining credibility". It is a grift, it is a grift, it is a grift. A similar trend happened with "integrative med" & "wellness". Institutions embrace new trendy grift. πŸ’° Is #Longevity Medicine Going Mainstream? www.nytimes.com/2026/10/16/b...

nytimes.comIs Longevity Medicine Going Mainstream? As major health systems open their own programs, longevity medicine is gaining credibility and becoming more accessible.

In the no contact world there's a term for relatives/friends who are employed by the abusive parent to harass their kids. They're called "flying monkeys." This guy charges $995 to be a flying monkey and send emails to estranged kids to "see if they will correspond with me." Quite a genius grift.

Michael Hobbes@michaelhobbes.bsky.social

As far as I can tell, literally every article on this quotes the same "expert" β€” a former estranged father who has an entire blog dedicated to absolving parents of any responsibility. He also sells $995 "consultations" where he will blame your kids for cutting you off.

Yes please make everyone aware of the podcast where I briefly talked about you taking estrogen and my upcoming book where I mention you among other bio hackers and compare you to Bernarr Macfadden. That's super convenient for me, thanks! ✌️

The dude just keeps getting more normal

Hard to believe I know, but Kevin follows this up with a couple of tweets labelling a female Democrat a borderline personality disorder "psycho" based on her "mannerisms." He's not just cosplaying a doctor, he's doing a spot-on impression of a mid-1900s doctor.

Same. Do your job Toronto! Don't elect another embarrassment mayor.

I no longer live in Toronto, but I still consider it my home. It's been painful watching Doug Ford rip it apart to appease suburban city-haters. And Brad Bradford will do much of the same. Shit, the dude wants to privatize the water! Torontonians, get out and vote. Do not let Bradford win.

What's extremely telling is that there is never once an article like this written from the perspective of the person who cut off their parent.

This is a quietly metastasizing moral panic

This is the slow creep from private services being for only for the wealthy to being for anyone who can afford to avoid the broken public system.

I have been writing and researching about Active Clubs in Canada for quite some time. The escalation is something we need to be concerned about. We have council candidates openly supporting the Dominion Society of Canada and now NS13 threatening a candidate. www.chch.com/chch-news/ra...

Shit like this is how for-profit healthcare lies to you to make universal healthcare seem inefficient and limited. "You can only get the healthcare you need if you pay us for it. Public healthcare can't give you this level of coverage and access, pay us. That public healthcare is useless."

This virtual private clinic in BC charges exorbitant fees for basic blood tests that are publicly covered. A core part of the sales pitch is lying about how testing works in the public system. Preventative routine screening IS COVERED - this is essential primary care that FPs/NPs do regularly.
