We take issue with AI when it's coming for our joy of insight. Proofs in math are a testimony of truth as beauty. The solution matters just as much as the process. Math at that level has always been closer to art and philosophy.

What should cultural analytics do about genAI? We address the infrastructural force of narratives within AI corporatization, argue for constitutive humanism against a purely decorative stance, and suggest methods to examine the function of narratives within and around AI. ssrn.com/abstract=758...

We form our identities always in relation to the other. The other used to be the animals, now the other is artificial, silicon intelligence. This provides an opportunity to identify as a biological intelligence that will unite the natural world. begus.substack.com/p/the-next-t...

Not transformer-based, but a GAN language model has helped with this already!

We built an artificial baby model that learns language directly from raw sound and trained it to imitate whale speech. Then we looked inside. Our interpretability method recovered the properties biologists already thought were meaningful and pointed out those that had not been considered before.

We can put a 10ft human skeleton in the front yard of anyone who wants one. Why don’t we have the supply chain to put a T. rex or triceratops skeleton on every corner?
