2nd (and last (for real this time)) marathon in the books. Didn't get the time I was shooting for, but I did the damn thing. Now to go eat my weight in poutine.

Can all of the people bitching about Indiana's schedule last year speak up about Miami? Not a single power conference team on their schedule, closest is Notre Dame.

@splitzoneduo.com Adding to the Fall Wedding Discourse ™️, in addition to being a good thing because you get to celebrate loved ones, sometimes (aka yesterday) the wedding is at 4pm Eastern and saves you from watching Michigan lose to Iowa in that manner so that's a nice little bonus.

5 years ago yesterday I ran my 1st half marathon and swore it was one and done. This morning I'm up at 5am to get ready for my 4th half which is really just part of training for my 2nd full marathon. Crazy how perspective shifts and today is "just" a half marathon.

Also wasn't planned, but just realized I'm wearing a tank top I got for a 10 mile race and a quarter zip from a 5k (to go with my bib for the half). Just need one of these races to start giving out shorts as their swag and I'll be all set.

[Benoit Blanc during a Reacher Christmas episode crossover] Listen, son, I myself am of the conviction that violence is the crude weapon of an incurious mind, but I will admit that my gigantic friend here makes the most convincing argument I've yet heard on the virtues of expediency through force.

[benoit blanc in true detective] now i know you think time is a flat circle, but if i may, you’re thinking of a clock

Marathon training plan called for a time based run vs distance today. Did the scheduled time and finished at 9.98 miles run. Gonna need some time for my OCD to process this one.

Everyone laments that being an adult means you need to decide what to eat for every meal forever, but the upside is if you have leftover taco meat and mac n cheese, you can combine them into tacos and no one can stop you.

Feels like an easy win for ESPN to do this like a mock draft. Don't have the official committee release anything, have a panel of talking heads put together what they think the rankings should be, then have a segment where they discuss it. That way the actual committee can do whatever at the end.

I love that the Kawhi Leonard scandal is basically about fake NIL. Everything is college football now!

Ketchup. That's it. That's all you should be putting on a hot dog. The only other acceptable toppings are chili and cheese but then it's not a hot dog, it's a coney dog.

Found a track suit and some running shorts I liked, immediately bought a second track suit and three more pairs of the shorts.

It is time once again to discuss the Most Dad Things we have done in the past year. A couple of reminders: - gender is a social construct, anyone can do Dad Things - you need not be a parent to do a Dad Thing - the definition of a Dad Thing is entirely subjective and maybe made up I’ll go first:

First attempt at running butter. A pint of heavy cream + 60 minutes/6 miles. Didn't quite become butter but got it to whipped cream. Maybe a 7 or 8 miler will do the trick.

“The flag that flies when an American athlete wins a gold medal isn’t Donald Trump’s flag. It’s ours. The anthem that plays isn’t Donald Trump’s song. It’s ours. If we refuse to celebrate what’s great about our country because of the people trying to ruin it, they’ve already succeeded.” Amen.

THE FINAL SPORTS! NEWSLETTER OF THE OLYMPICS Team USA had its best Winter Olympics ever. I wrote about why we can never let the worst things about America keep us from celebrating the best things about America. Also, bobsled and cross-country skiing results!

If you'd asked beforehand, I wouldn't have assumed Greek mythology meets New Orleans was a thing that would work, but damn in Hadestown didn't pull it off.

Let me give you a thought experiment: Imagine not just a ban on qualified immunity for authority, but a reversal; a new legal framework, under which authority bears greater responsibility than civilians in matters involving force—as it should. www.the-reframe.com/absolute-imm...

the-reframe.comAbsolute ImmunityAlignment with supremacy is a vile choice. Raising the natural costs for those who make that choice by putting first things first.
