Updating my ✨sabbatical✨ out-of-office email response with the obligatory "Sorry you can't get into my class" message during course registrations. If I didn't have to GRADE you all (and if I had unlimited lab equipment) I'd happily take you ALL. We could have one big super science fun club...

It's not just that grading takes time. I dislike grading on a fundamental level. Assessment is FINE. Everyone needs feedback and to be able to see where they are in their understanding. Still need to spend some brain cycles to make it more of that and less about numbers and still stay sane...

I'm not saying drag-burlesque will solve ALL our problems, but spouse and I saw an amazingly creative Halloween show on Friday night at a cute little queer-owned coffee shop and I'm still REELING from the creativity and awesomeness.

ask yourself; Why is Addison the exception that we must now execute? Who are the people who now say he should die? Our governor, his prosecutor Our supreme court, currently in the midst of scandal almost $2 million to try to kill a man THE sole exception to NH's death penalty ban ask yourself

AHEM, take 2: Addison has been the ONLY death row inmate here for DECADES a Black man who shot a cop in 2006, was sentenced to death we abolished the death penalty in 2019, Addison alive in prison but the order was written to allow him, the sole exception, to still be eligible for a state murder

In 1939, New Hampshire carried out its last execution. In 2019, we abolished capital punishment. But one exception remains. New Hampshire must not become the first state to execute someone under a repealed capital punishment statute. 🗓️ Monday, October 26th 🕗️ 5:30pm 📍 NH State House, Concord, NH

Did either the Cheesecake Factory or Saddam Hussein overuse cheap-looking "gilded" crap or am I just missing the joke? (I have been in a Cheesecake Factory a total of one time. The menu's size overwhelmed me. But I enjoyed the cheesecake.)

I keep forgetting that LibreWolf doesn't like certain things... like me sharing pictures without hitting a particular security setting. So when you see me accidentally post absolutely junky looking horizontal stripes... that's why. 😝

BEAUTIFUL AF. Going to take a stab at descriptive alt text because WOW this is stunning. (suggestions welcome!) 🔭

Recent analyses show that the "Treble Clef" is not a pulsar, as once thought, but is instead a radio phoenix. It's a large filament-like radio source inside a galaxy cluster hidden behind the Milky Way that revived when a cluster merger energized old black hole plasma! 🧪 arxiv.org/abs/2607.06659

I'm all about zines, but as someone with aging and otherwise problematic eyesight, can we make the text a LEEETLE bigger? I know you wanna get EVERYTHING in there but... isn't that why you put your QR code on it? 🙃

Love! Many of the lyrics are applicable to any election situation. Unrelatedly, ALSO vote NO on 2, New Hampshire.

We don't need outside direction. This is our goddamn election. Try to buy us -- you're bound to fail. I co-wrote a song with Josh Fortenbery with help from @pat.alaskarobotics.com. We have THOUGHTS about billionaires spending for Prop. 2 in Alaska, and we will be voting NO. youtu.be/W0u7nS1_O_4

They emphasized the importance of having ground truth... witnesses documenting what's actually going on at a time when rumors and conspiracies are likely to be flying. It's a small but important way to be a part of it. Hopefully, it'll be uneventful and educational. 🤞🏻

QUESTION OF THE DAY: This sounds like a joke question, but it isn’t. If it doesn’t apply to you, fine. But it’s a serious question with different levels of meaning. And I am genuinely curious. When did you first realize you were weird?

I was saved when another "weirdo" was put into the class and we bonded over The X-Files. My mother always said I'd find my people when I was older. And she was right. Now I relish my "weird" qualities.

Okay so... I must not have been a very self-aware child. I didn't really internalize being "weird" even though I liked acting weird, making funny faces, building weird daydreams in my head all day... that sort of stuff. Middle school came around and I didn't feel "weird" then, just extremely uncool

I went into high school with higher hopes for social acceptance though, as I had all my classes with the same group, the "scholars" who were academically the high achievers. The class split off into two cliques... And then there was me. In neither. THAT'S when I felt weird, and not in a good way.

I love this!! #sciart

This is actually brilliant. I'm rooting for you!! This sounds like an incredible way to learn with your students and relate with them.

This year I said to my students "doing the readings is like going to the gym. Just showing up isn't enough, you have to challenge yourself to do things in order to get better at them. If you do the readings, I will go the gym. At the end of term we'll see how it turns out." Y'all, I am not clever.

"I think I'd enjoy teaching way more if people weren't paying superyacht-money... We need to humanities, more than ever, but the systems we've built to commodify them are suffocating them." DAAAAAAAANG. #AcademicSky
