I would really like a "you're all caught up" feature on chronological feeds, where it remembers the last post I saw or time I had it open. It would greatly help completionists, such as I.

I love this. I know it's painful for people who want to play with friends from an Xbox, but that's half the point. Pain brings attention. There are many issues that deserve attention today, but Palestine is one of the most urgent.

Windows has so many loading screens that I’m starting to think half the installer is just assets to show while loading

the "adapt or die" people failed to consider the secret third option of forming a neoluddite community where I'm selling my latest video game on usb sticks in a little lemonade stand

I just experienced the first talk about AI in a company that was a little confrontational between the devs and the manager.

The manager was representing the QA team, who’s overwhelmed by tickets that are basically vibe coded. The devs were talking about them being overwhelmed, and having to also do testing, which they are not paid to do, being another thing on their plate that takes precious time and resources.

At the end of the day, the bottleneck is always going to be humans having to interpret the result of AI. You either accept that you won’t control the output, or you are going to be slower than just letting the AI loose.

It’s a very dense talk, both intellectually and emotionally. It’s both hopeful and sad. It was good to hear this dense history of innovation and the resulting hardship of past artists, to put what we have today in perspective.

Ever had a coworker who you always felt you could work well together with, but they left before you had the chance?

I just had this happen, in an org where I don’t really feel at home due to the other coworkers having different priorities than I. I still consider myself a career starter, and I want to push myself to learn new and hard things, but the others aren’t at that stage anymore.

I was searching for a mentor so I can see how to work well in a legacy codebase and I think I found one, but due to siloing in the org, everyone has their part of the app cut out for them. This made it hard to work with them. In the end I couldn’t move closer in my tasks to work with them.

You are up to date.
