RIP Walter Koenig. Thanks for giving us two amazing sci fi characters in Pavel Chekov and the utterly evil Alfred Bester. 😢 consequence.net/2026/10/walt...

I was up at 7 o'clock this morning to watch @vivaladirtleague.bsky.social's live show in Auckland where they played their usual bonkers version of D&D with special guest @felicia.day. That was amazing.
Game journalist plays Outrun while having beach balls and other inflatable objects thrown at him.
Another one I remember being very freaked out about at the time was an episode of Alfred Hitchcock Presents called 'Final Escape'. I only remember the very scary ending where the main character wakes up and discovers he's been buried alive in a coffin and starts screaming and banging on the walls.
In honor of scary media month: what is the first piece of media you remember truly frightening you as a child?
In honor of scary media month: what is the first piece of media you remember truly frightening you as a child? The appearance of the man with no face in Sapphire and Steel. It was my introduction to the show and it both terrified and completely hooked me. I never missed an episode after that.
Probably the 1979 adaptation of Salem's Lot, in particular this scene. It looks really cheesy now yet scared the bejesus out of 10-year old me.

I just backed The Rubber-Keyed Wonder: The Sinclair ZX Spectrum Story on @kickstarter.com www.kickstarter.com/projects/48k...
@richardcobbett.bsky.social I just met Finn Walker, and was immediately reminded of Jack Boone from TSW. I assume there was some inspiration there. 😎
So, this is happening. I really hope they livestream it. It is going to be amazing. www.youtube.com/shorts/73Ywl...
Subject to change, regularly. In fact, they probably already have. (I tried to get The Lords of Midnight and Resident Evil 2 in there too, but I was not happy with the images it chose.) My 9 Games #My9Games my9games.com/en/s/36342db...
I just won a bartending competition against Becca, and now she has to wear a green outfit for St. Patrick's Day. Hooray for the Irish. ☘️ #Nighthawks @richardcobbett.bsky.social
@richardcobbett.bsky.social I ended up playing a D&D style game with a bunch of nerds in the Lost Nickel Diner last night, and kept going out of my way to make as many stupid decisions as possible. That was such a hilarious side quest. I think there may be a sequel further on in the game too. 🤣
Monika Vail has entered the building... err, game. A wonderful performance as always by @ameliatyler.bsky.social . I can't wait to find out more about her character. @richardcobbett.bsky.social @wadjeteyegames.com
It's probably as obvious as the sun in the sky but mine is Jet Set Willy. It wasn't the first game I ever played (that would be Pong), and I played many more games before it, but it had such an effect on me since I first played it that it's remained one of my favourite games of all time since then.
P.S. A Kickstarter for a rerelease boxset of Matthew Smith just launched a couple of days ago, and it is well worth backing. It includes loads of cool bonus extras. www.kickstarter.com/projects/pix...
Yippee! I finally unlocked Becca's redhead rant. That was fun. *silently walks away, not wanting to antagonise her further* 🤪 @richardcobbett.bsky.social
Just bought it on Steam (it's not available on GoG for me yet for some reason) and am downloading it now. I can't wait to play it.
