I think I left Facebook right on time and I’m slowly leaving Instagram now too. I’m working on self-hosting my blog to house my long form writing and use the internet like I used to. I need more RSS feeds and less algorithm influence in my life.

When Grammy-winning musician Rhiannon Giddens begins playing “Old Corn Liquor,” a traditional Black American folk tune, acclaimed Chinese pipa virtuoso Wu Man recognizes similarities to Chinese pentatonic music and spontaneously joins in. The joy on their faces says it all.

No joke. I think this is the most important video I have ever seen about mobile games. This guy breaks down how this game psychologically profiles you, and makes the game harder or easier in order to show you ads

We need more Rugrat/Aaahh!!! Real Monsters art styles in animation and comics. I’m starting to miss ugly characters. 😩

Our upcoming picture book, #OneOddBook will probably be one of the weirdest books children and adults will enjoy. All types of readers might find a little bit of themselves within the pages. Anyways, here's a peep of some of the fun pages illustrated by @robinachilds.bsky.social !

It won't stay weird, but since I tend to do my dry brush and nib inking before I finish everything else with brush, my main character sometimes exists as just a floating head of hair and glasses. 🤓 (From #OtisAndTheSylvaBeast by @notsosuper.pub 🎉 hehehehe)

An inked panel I personally love from the current project, "Otis and the Sylva Beast" written by @notsosuper.pub! And yes I'm gonna tidy those panel corners with some whiteout. 😅 Also thank you for looking at the pencils for this comic at the NCS mini-con this past Saturday!!

I’ve been binging “My Adventures With Superman” with the kids while we have HBO for a few more days and I didn’t expect to enjoy this Superman “anime” this much. Probably the best way to introduce the man of steel to the kids.

To be an effective ally my support does not grant me permission to center myself in spaces where already marginalized folk are trying to be heard. It’s better to silently listen, even take a few lumps, because my aim is for the people I claim to be allying with to know that I truly have their backs.

It’s not about me extracting, it’s about us growing. When I’ve got struggles of my own, I try to see why I’m getting offended when I’m being told I might be part of the problem in someone else’s struggle, and I try to check if my reaction is because I’m convicted or something needs addressing.

But at the end of the day (to me) allyship isn’t about grandstanding and pointing fingers. A lot of the time it’s invisible work. And that’s ok.

This photo encapsulates the Black experience in America to me. And those folks hiding their identities most likely are our doctors, police officers, teachers, “upstanding members of society.” The ones deserving of all the privileges owed to them… Anyways let’s watch how this get deflected as nothing

Gotta love that I’m in a country where I have a mental condition that requires meds, but because the way the US is I have to spend my days calling pharmacies because there’s a shortage of the meds I need to function. Which is doubly hard…cause I don’t have my meds. It’s been an exhausting month.

Wow, instagram did something good. They showed me an ad for an instrumental music group called Vethaken, led by guitarist Pravin Thompson, and hot dang is it really good comics-inking music!! 💖 Also here's some comic art I inked today with ✨NO CONTEXT✨😈 #OtisAndTheSylvaBeast @notsosuper.pub

Hello, thank you for tagging me in the art share! I'm a comics illustrator, here are a couple inked pages from the current project, a graphic novel called "Otis and the Sylva Beast" written by @notsosuper.pub. These will be colored later by Justin Wood.

One thing that will always be consistent about me is that I refuse to be bitter and think the worst in people. I will point out flaws in systems, but I have no way of predicting or perceiving virtual growth in people, but I rock with folks who want to grow and am open to growing as well.

Sometimes I’m further along in my journey and often others are further along on theirs and there will be times where we’re mismatched but I’m all for growing my capacity for empathy. That’s what my social space is built for.

A painful/exhausting thing about figuring out that I’m neurodivergent so late in life is understanding why people misunderstand me, but not having the power to change folks’ misconceptions about the person they thought they knew. It’s especially difficult to handle with loved ones.

I completely understand the lore and what Backrooms was trying to do, but, for me, spending so much time in those liminal spaces made me sleepy in the movie theater. It felt like being at work or revisiting childhood memories in the most boring rooms. And the random background whispers annoyed me.

I’m loving these inks from @wingedelfgirl.bsky.social for our 60+ page upcoming fantasy graphic novel, #OtisAndTheSylvaBeast! Great things take time. And I truly believe that the intention and dedication put into this story will be a breath of fresh air to readers of all ages. Stay tuned!

I don’t know about y’all, but I tune out of any conversation where someone starts telling me that a billionaire or very privileged person is “playing three dimensional chess.” It’s like the melatonin of conversations to me.

Hi, I'm Lauren Sparks from Kentucky in the US, and I'm a comics illustrator. Here's some random panels from the current project, a kids fantasy graphic novel written by @notsosuper.pub called #OtisAndTheSylvaBeast. Sketched all pages with pencil, now using a lightbox to ink with brush and nibs.

This year, lots of people have been asking at conventions if my work contains AI. Since folks like the free buttons and stickers I give away, I figured I’d make some that send a very clear message of where I stand when it comes to AI generated art.

I’ve been doing this for 15 years and collaborated with 50 artists to create original human created art and I’m not stopping anytime soon.

MY YOUNGEST (on our way home from school): “I can’t wait to get home, take a warm bath, eat some dinner, then watch some Bob Ross painting while under a nice warm blanket.” I need her to teach me how to relax.

Speaking of conventions, at the one I went to Saturday, this scary looking pin was the kids’ favorite. Kids of all walks picked it out of everything I had, while mortified parents caved in. My oldest and I laughed each time. I made a mental note to make more large kid appropriate pins next time.

As a tiny Indy publisher I think I made the right call to do more small Saturday events in my state. They’re a lot less stressful and I make way more when I’m at events that aren’t so niche. I’ve done one a month so far and I’ve made more profit with lower table costs while growing local awareness.

I urge y’all to look around your backyards and not put all your eggs in social media, or gambling on getting recognized at large conventions with expensive tabling fees. You’ll be surprised how many eyes light up when folks learn that you’re local and the secrets they’ll reveal.

I’m in North Carolina and had to hunt for events but after going to a few and asking other people where they’ve vended I’ve grown my list of locations and found little gems I wouldn’t have known about otherwise.
