Safari 26.5 is here! It includes the :open pseudo-class, the element-scoped keyword for random(), color-interpolation for SVG gradients, the ToggleEvent.source property for popovers, and the Origin API. And a ton of polish and fixes. webkit.org/blog/17938/w...

CSS `random()`, now in Safari 26.2. Play around with it while waiting for other browsers to ship.

Wasn't expecting how much fun random() is, it really opens up a ton of pure CSS creative possibilities. Now you need custom functions, which combined with random() will enable all sorts of distributions, Perlin noise and more 😇

I think `animation-composition: accumulate` is gonna see more action with `random()`, as it's like "take what you already got as a value and augment it rather than replace it". Here's a parallax thing where randomly-fixed-positioned stars are moved different amounts (with a scroll-driven animation)

This has been in Safari since last year in version 18.2!

✨ New article ✨ Are we at the start of a new era? Chrome 140 introduced CSS Typed Arithmetic. It might seem like a minor change, but I believe it's huge as it opens the door to countless new possibilities and a whole new era of Computational CSS. What do you think? css-tricks.com/css-typed-ar...

I love CSS folks. They are soldiers of joy and delight. The world is burning and AI debates have people at each others throats and CSS peeps keep being like “check out this dancing turtle I made out of divs 🥰”

I love #CSSDay. It brings together so many of the CSS Working Group to share talks on the newest CSS features being worked on! If it wasn't for this conference, I never would have had the encouragement to join the working group last year. A huge privilege to be alongside these incredible people.

You are up to date.
